Grading

Yeah, I guess that is a bit much. I was mistaken.

The 2018 IBC suggests.

"The ground immediately adjacent to the foundation shall be sloped away from the building at a slope of not less than one unit vertical in 20 units horizontal (5-percent slope) for a minimum distance of 10 feet (3048 mm) measured perpendicular to the face of the wall.

I think it may be suppose to help insure minimum elevations to prevent ponding penetration?
Seems 1/4" per foot - 1 unit vertical to 48 units horizontal ~ 2% disappears in grass and landscaping.

I have had a few grade problems that a drain pipe and/or dry river bed rock path have helped with runoff control. Roof runoff can be a problem. Especially when roof next door is also draining towards your roof runoff. Throw in an impervious driveway or any hard scape and uh-oh.

5% means 6” across the 10’ width. I can get close to that.
