OK.....update.....the truck is together finally. My brother and girlfriend and I have been busy most of the last month. WOW, what a lot of work! I've put about 600 miles on it so far. A few notes.....Using the same engine as before, I've gained about 1-2 mpg, i guess because of the NV4500. Even with the added weight of the crew cab over the extended, i can feel an improvement in the amount of power getting to the ground. It feels as if the engine is not having to work as hard to get the truck moving. Just learned how to rebuild a rearend these last two days, not nearly as difficult or mysterious as i always thought it was. Just have to be careful and follow instructions and use some common sense. Installed 3.42 gears and new bearings. Hardest part was setting the pinion bearing preload. I made it about 5 miles down the road when i blew an oil cooler line:rolleyes5: I'll clean up the mess and replace the line tomorrow and really try it out.
