Bought another fuel filter yesterday to re-insure that blowing my sock didn't clog my filter....

Picked one up, went to the register at AutoZone, and they told me 28.99!!?? I said whoa! Went back to shelf, tag said 14.09. She said price went up, nobody changed the tag. So I got it for 14 beans... the NEW price is $28.99!

Not sure if this is a mistake or not, but something to look into to stock up on them if for fact they are going up that much....

Perhaps its just Auto-Zone's way of making sure I don't go in there again for anything, or if Standadyne jacked the price up on these...

Just a heads up.

Just went on website and price is $14.09 I would print and save for next store vist b/c they usaully price match.

Or if u want to one up, I've went to a diffrent filter set up where the replacements will be $6.50 a pop (5-6 mic napa brand, 9'' spin on)

Why don't you post pics of your setup and parts list?

Its not a mistake. Its the same around here. Autozone = $28.99. Napa = ~$30. Pepboys= ~$30. Advance auto = ~$14.

The local advance is the only place that didn't almost double in price. I used to be able to get them anywhere for ~$15, now i'm lucky i i can find one for under $30.

Wow, $30, better snatch a few up then from where you can for half price.

Stanadyne lost PMD sales so their jacking up filter prices :)

Does anyone use the Bladwin Heavy Duty filter that Heath sells?

I bought a WIX for $31 at Orieleys a couple of weeks ago, could have got the off brand for like $27 but went for the WIX. That is crazy for a filter.

I just checked AZ online and came up with the higher price of $28.99 as well. The last ones I bought were only $8.99, but that's been awhile. Seems like everything for a 6.5 has gone through the roof recently. AZ is also known for having one price at one store and a completely different price at another. When you enter your zipcode and select a store, if the selected store doesn't have the part on the shelf the online will show the super low mail order price, but if it is on the shelf it shows the stores price. I went through this same issue with a fuel injector assembly for a 98 5.7L, online price was $192 but when I went into the store they quoted me $268 for it to get it from another store. I came in with a copy of the online price and they wouldn't honor it either, so I got them from CARQUEST $187 just down the road.

I was wondering when I bought one a few weeks ago from Napa. The guy looked it up and said "man, they're proud of that thing" I'll have to find my receipt but IIRC it was over 30 bucks.

As of right now, my Wix fuel filter for the 6.5 is "Available until Inventory Depleted". There is an updated version coming it seems.

I used to pay about $11 at autozone all the time, then they jumped up a bit, but last one I had to buy at Sanel was almost $30 I almost crapped. Now have a new advance right down the street, I'll have to check their price and stock up.

Last week i had a similar experience at AZ. Needed a heater blower relay/control module for my '94 Caprice, it was $83 online. Went to the closest store and i about crapped when they said $188!! I showed them the online page, didn't matter still $100 more. I got pissed off, sent a complaint email to them and they gave me a nice PR blurb back about how "prices reflect local economy" BS. I emailed them back "thanks for the PR blurb, but ya'll did nothing to solve the problem, you can ship this part anywhere in the US for under $10 - so you are gouging people". I got an answer from a real person then, "we are checking on it". I'll hit all the other parts places first before i go to AZ again.
Advance Auto here i come, see if they have any 6.5 filters left. lol
