Hey Ya'll it's been in now about a month I grabbed some pics when I put it in on my 98 C1500 Burb; but haven't had down time with work/vacation to make a post, at same time I did the FS 2500 I also installed new oil cooler and lines I got from Greg at www.lubricationspecialist.com a while back.

The FS2500 looks to be a good mod for a 2wd truck/burb, only about 2K on the oil since installed, I'll get some samples sent off when I get about 3500 miles on the oil.

Instructions with kit are excellent, here are some pics where more detail could have been added IMO.

i'm loving the photos TD. that install really doesn't look that hard. i may look into the FS-2500. i've already got the lube specialists kit installed and i'm running amsoil 15w-40 so i want it to stay as clean as possible. did you buy the fs-2500 kit straight from lube specialist?

FS2500 was bought from Heath, installation was simple if you can read, run a drill then you can install it; only disadvantage I see for K trucks (4x4) is that oil filter remains in stock location, Amosil remote kit IMO is superior for K trucks as you get the oil filter off of the 90 degree adapter to a place so 5 minute oil filter swaps are a possibibility.

I don't have data yet; to show if one setup Amsoil or FS2500 filters better but will have some comparative data in not too distant future.

GREAT photo show, Tim! It looks great. Was it hard to put in Greg's lines? I need to do both my 6.5s at some point. Looks like new OEM lines were put in right before I purchased both vehicles (big surprise - they were weeping oil).

Rob :)

This is 2nd set of Greg's lines I've installed, much harder on the K1500, than the C1500 burb, but since burb frame sits taller more room to work, more room between block & frame, I had to cut out old lines on the truck, on truck I was able to remove intact, though the weren't leaking when I removed them, looking at orings in the fittings it would not have been long, 140444 miles on burb when I removed the lines.

Easy install, Greg sells new cooler now blots right into same bracket as GM cooler fits into, with lines so it is SAE fitting vs older kit which had to be adapted to SAE & metric. I did cut down a wrench last time I did it on truck to have swing room, could not remember why I had this "bob tailed" adjustable wrench in my tool box until I did the new lines. On K trucks (4x4) you will have to slightly grind off the outer radius of the 4x4 (90) oil filter adapter to clear the fittings in block. and remember top fitting goes in 1st

After having done two sets of Lubrication Specialists oil cooler line kits... Both were a different animal for some reason, granted both in K 4x4 trucks.

The 99 Burb was an absolute pain as the lines connected to the engine block did not want to come out at all. I had to cut the lines and then shimmy/wiggle the lines loose from the block fittings. It was a nightmare.

The 96 went in and out like a breaze. Probably only took a hour as it all went smooth.

Granted with either install plan on getting black oil all over everything ;) keep the paper towels handy.

TD, thanks for the great FS2500 write up!!!

FWIW I do not think the 4x4 oil filter changes are that bad... Not enjoyable, but about the same PITA as any other car.

Not so bad after you do your 1st one, because the previous installer makes em too tight, took me almost 2 hrs 1st time I did it, even tried screwdriver through both sides of filter, but next go round wasn't as bad because I tightened to snug and just a little more only. But you have to do it cold as you will get burned on the manifold or crossover, with Amsoil bypass kit it is literally 5 minutes on and off both filters.

Great write up Tim. Now I have to get a kit. When I do I've go some pictures to keep me from blowing things up :D

Outstanding write-up, Tim! Pictures, thousands of words, ... it's all good!

This should be a sticky! Great write-up (or photo-up?) Tim.

Rob :)

P.S. I actually don't have much trouble changing oil on either vehicle, although like Tim I don't tighten them too much. Actually, the Fram HP4 has a REALLY thick gasket, that might help a bunch.

Tim's just saying with the Amsoil its thoughtless, no mess oil all over front driveshaft and everywhere out...

Since we've never experienced this, we're happy doing our oil changes. I really look forward to the Oil analysis comparisons between the two.

And down your arm, can't do it hot, etc. I did mine 2x before going to the Amsoil kit previous owner or oil change shop put a real snuggie on the filter, I put on the new one snug and a little more as per normal, and while it spun off easily it was a mess, so I bought the Amsoil kit where both filters are vertical.

My FS 2500 is horizontal but has a drain fitting I can pull to get most oil out before changing the filter (I hope) will see with 1st filter change how much a mess it is.

Tm,
Where exactly did you mount the FS2500? On my truck and 96 burb I have them mounted nsde the engine compartment. I don't have room inside the engne compartment on the 98 burb or the 95 Tahoe.

They didn't have the oil fill neck return when I bought mne. I had to make my own.
The plug on the block that removed for supply to the FS was a 5/16 square.
