My next purchase needs to be a fan and clutch for my truck. I never hear mine spin over.

I would like a heavy duty fan clutch and the duramax fan.

I did a search and just got even more confused.

Which fan and clutch will work on my truck?

I will get pictures of my current set up if that will help.

From what I am finding out here is what I have found.

Fan, ACDELCO Part # 1580690

Clutch, 2839

Will these work on MY truck?

Those part numbers will work. You may have to trim the fan shroud.

I like the Kennedy Diesel Low temp fan clutch and Duramax fan. The 20" steel fan fits without question where the Duramax fan may need the fan shroud trimmed. 1998 6.5 steel fan and usually has to be ordered.

I like the lower temp fan clutch because it kicks in sooner for the AC in our hot weather. Towing it also does a very good job.

Do you have the HO water pump installed? One from a 1998 will drop in.

The other option is the thread on water pump and fan clutch. Supposed to balance the flow between the banks better. Heath Diesel sells them.

If you need a water pump, now is teh time to upgrade to the better spin on type pump, DURAMAX fan blade(01-05 DURAMAX plastic fan blade), and a heavy duty spin on type fan clutch. If your engine mounts are good, you shouldn't need to trim your fan shroud, but if tehy are sagging I would be ready to cut the shroud a quarter inch or so for clearance.

How much is this water pump?

All I can really afford right now is the fan.

I will have to save up for the clutch.

Heath is out of the question unless I win the lottery!

I'm running the set from Heath. What I like about is that I never hear nor feel it kick on. It seems like the clutch engages gradually until it's fully engaged.

I replaced mine a couple months ago... But the weather has not been hot enough to kick the fan on yet! (not complaining at all!)

The only reason I replaced my old clutch was for towing this summer. Next weekend I will pick up a 30' trailer so it should get a good workout then :)

IMO a 4 seasons sd clutch with a Duramax fan should do you well.
