Hey everyone,

So I've been having a problem with this truck smoking a lot when starting it up after it has run and sat for an hour or so. I originally thought that it was just because it needed a little heat from the glow plugs, but since the relay was bad it wouldn't kick on when it needed to. Well, I have since replaced the whole system and installed a manual over ride, so that's not the problem. Is it bad injectors? Or is it burning oil after sitting for a bit?

My guess would be either or both. sounded like it wasn't idling as smooth as it should have. Could also be an IP issue

Thanks for the input, any ideas on how to troubleshoot? What would you do first? The guy I bought it from 2 years ago said it had new Bosch injectors.

The nose knows. Smell the exhaust when it is smoking to see if it smells like fuel or oil. The color looks a bit like oil to me, but it is hard to tell. Like mentioned above is both is a strong possibility. Let it sit but plug in the heater, maybe add any other heat source also so you can to eliminate the glowplug question. How much oil is going through the intake via cdr?

Smells more like oil to me. I did the valve cover gaskets last month and I noticed that the intake was pretty oily, so hopefully changing out the cdr valve will help.

Clean the intake, vent to the air instead of cdr to intake for a couple days and see if the problem eases up. Unfortunately it sound more like valve guide seals to me, but try it and maybe you get lucky.
