Diamond Eye or Flo-Pro exhaust?

Turbine Doc and all our other good Diesel addicts south of the border. Just want to clarify that Flo-Pro is made in Red Deer county in Alberta. Red Deer is just about right smack in the midle of the two major cities in Alberta, Edmonton & Calgary. Alberta is like Texas when it comes to two things, oil and trucks. More trucks are sold in Alberta than the rest of Canada combined.

The question is;

How the heck do I get ahold of a turbo back system from them without paying the crazy Canadian prices everyone wants?

I mean really, 300 bucks off ebay or 5-600 from a Canadian source company for the same system?

:mad2:

That Great White, is the million dollar question. Us Canadians get hosed on everything up here. Crazy that you can buy a Canadian made product cheaper from a U.S. vendor than buy it in the country that it was made in.

we run a 3''in/3''out magnaflow stainless on our '93 3500 6.2l n/a, it sounds awesome... 3 yrs on the truck, no rust on it, i go under the truck once every couple weeks and just wipe it off with a diesely rag to keep it shiny..... it sounds the best at about 2000rpm, a little droney but no worse than that, it sure makes people turn their heads when accelerating... somebody special ordered it from canadian tire but did not pick it up:rolleyes5: so it sat in stock for 6 months and we got it for around 40 percent off...:hihi:

I just installed a Flo-Pro 4" on my truck today, went with the stainless system over the DE aluminized mainly because I got it at cost from our exhaust supplier; only $50 more than the ebay DE price. Plus no shipping. It sounds good IMO, with the muffler it is quieter than the 3" straight pipe I had previously. The only thing I didn't really like versus the DE kit was the downpipe connection, it is just a slip joint instead of the ball flange.

The 3" straight pipe had a drone to it, especially when towing. I haven't hooked up a trailer yet with the 4", but it is much quieter in the cab with the muffler installed. Under hard acceleration it gives a nice rumble. The muffler is basically just a huge ~10" diameter non-directional glasspack.

I found what I think is good deal for a DE exhaust, only problem is it is listed for 2500/3500. Any reason it wouldn't fit on a 1500?

I ditched the Banks system, but it was not the Monster Muffler, because my Banks exhaust was only 3" and 3.5" exhaust, kind of pathetic from like 15 years ago, and I think Banks stopped supporting the 6.2/6.5 long ago.

I am not sure how the new Banks mufflers work. I have never heard the hushpower either, but other have said they do well.

Banks still supports the 6.2/6.5. I just purchased a bunch of stuff from them for my 6.2 sidewinder kit. Heck they still sell the kit. Even if it is wicked expensive, it's still available.

I went looking for the 6.5 stuff that was on my truck, it has a Banks badge on the side from the exhaust and Banks guages and the hypertech chip it had in it I guess. They dont do that anymore, but looks like the 6.2 stuff is actually a decent upgrade vs what they had for the 6.5

Whats the "Ball Flange"?....The lip on the DP that connects to the turbo and band clamp?

Learn me, please!....Got a pic maybe?

The turbo to DP has much to be desired, when installing my Flo Pro a few years back.....It was a real PIA!

No, it's the connection between the down pipe and the rest of the exhaust. It has a 'ball & socket' type connection with two bolts holding it together. Very similar to the way they do exhaust manifold-head pipe connections on gassers now. There is no gasket or 'donut' and it doesn't have to be in perfect alignment to seal. Smartest thing since power brakes if you ask me.

It looks like a king size version of a flared brake or fuel line end for the socket. The ball end will look kind of like a snake that swallowed an egg then got it's head cut off right next to the egg. Because of the ball, the two ends don't have to be perfectly aligned to assemble.

Just ordered my DE. The ball joint is the part that I fear will not fit. I will be mating it to a Banks down-pipe.

I have an OBS ('89 Suburban) and I am using the banks turbo. If the DE downpipe fits, I would most likely use it. I do not think it will fit as it is super tight and the banks bends the right ways at the right places.

Gotcha. Could always cut and weld the DE ball onto the Banks DP perhaps then.

I was thinking the same thing. Or cut the ball end off the exhaust and use some type of slip/flex fitting between that and the Banks DP. I will see what it looks like when it arrives.
