Choosing a transmission New or rebuilt?

Some good info here. Leroy is there any way you can get the Transtar unit?
My 4l80e has 240K plowing life. Im on the verge of rebuilding it this summer and im looking for suggestions. This thread is right down my alley. I rebuilt my 6.5 at 202k and it now has 240k and mine is far from stock the only thing left to upgrade is my turbo, and that will be done with an hx-35 sitting in the basement.

You can get the converter from transtar I got there billet piston converter for $275 plus core and just had my whole tranny overhauled for first time with 240,000miles, i blew over drive

I just got my truck back together today and already having issues, but thats just my luck cant catch a damn break. Im thinking i got a converter with a stall speed to high. If thats the case, ill be making my tranny guy swap it!

My stock transmission setup has lasted with long with brown fluid and such; id be happy if it was rebuilt just the same.

Well don't seem like wrong converter now everything points to speed sensor so gonna try that

My fluid was red till I blew it up

Hope its something simple on your part! My truck had brown burnt fluid in it when i bought it at 172K. I and currently at 241K and its still brown and burnt. But hey its still going!
