Will someone do me a favor... pull the turbo intake off your truck while it's cold and check to see if there is any side-side movement when you grab the compressor shaft and try to move it?

I was doing some cleaning last weekend, decided for whatever reason to do this and was kind of startled when I was able to move the shaft. It didn't move easily, or much for that matter but I was able to move it.

There's no weird noises and it makes plenty of boost, doesn't use any oil, etc. Maybe I'm still paranoid from when I drove it across the state with the bad vane pos sensor and it did make funky noises when accelerating.

There will be some play in it which is normal. Think of how hot that turbo gets when under a load, so there has to be plenty of room to prevent the turbo shaft from seizing when it is hot and you let off the throttle and the heat soaks in. Turbo shafts are designed primarily to ride on a film of oil and not on the bearing. That gap is for the oil to support the shaft. you's freak out probably if you seen how much play my seasoned turbo has in it.
