Bought new has been on truck for 6 months. Wouldn't really ever roll coal finally updated it started pumping out black smoke then it stopped now it says that it is installed on another truck and won't let me reinstall update

Has your Truck been to the Dealer lately? Maybe they did an ECU Update.

Try Setting the Truck back to Stock then try to Re-tune it.

Unhook the Batteries for about an Hour then try to Load a Tune again.

Welcome to the Forum! :welcome2:

What year is your Ford?

It's an 06 f250 I finally got it to reinstall. My fuel mileage jumped from 11 to 27 a gallon. Still isn't putting out any smoke. I would like it to but right now if the mileage is right I really don't care lol.

You're certainly not getting 27mpg. Don't believe the Trip Computer. Either Hand Calculate it, or use the Fuelly App like some of us here use.

And your going to have trouble finding people to cheer on smoke. Smoking diesels have given us all a bad name, and many like myself are against it. A fast diesel doesn't have to smoke(at least not from the exhaust).

I figured as much when it was saying 11 I was calculating about 16. It just feels like it's running a lot smoother than before. And I really don't care for the black smoke to much I just like being able to switch up to extreme and pump some out every now and then.

Not sure on the FORDS, but I know on the DURAMAX the triple dog will smoke but due to piss poor tuning. I tuned a truck that had one on it, and there method of getting black smoke was to turn on post injection and leave the timing retarded. Ran his EGT's sky high in a hurry, and wasn't that quick. I set him up with a tune that will roast the tires in 1st through 4th and he only has blue smoke from the tires now.

The weird thing is when I first updated it it was shifting real rough then it stopped that and even on tow it would cover everything in smoke barely touching the pedal. So I took it back to stock then installed it again. It seems to me the programmer itself just does what it wants.
