wow, what a trip. 3 guys, 4 days, 5 states and 1680 miles total. Spent at least 12 hours in the seat each day (the secret? Baby Powder, and LOTS of it!)

If you own a motorcycle, sell the kids into slavery, or whatever you have to do to make this trip at least once. Thursday and Sunday were travel days, just hammering down the interstate. Friday, we did the Pigeon Forge-Foothills Parkway-Dragon-Fontanna-Cherokee-Smokey Mountain National Park-Gatlinburg loop. Saturday we went out down the dragon again and across the Cherohola Skyway and then back to maryville, townsend, and Cades Cove where I got to see a real live black bear and her cub out in the wild.

Took about a thousand pictures. Heres a taste of some of them.

This was my fifth time down to the Smokeys, Daves 9th, and Mikes first. We are already planning one for the fall.

Those are my favorite type of roads. That first pick the road surface is awesome!I miss not riding now, when I can get back on I will be out there again-I hope!

i love the mountains!! i went threw there on my way to myrtle beach, i stopped there at Old grist mill, pictures don't do justice of really begin there!

I love Cades Cove, take my kids there, we are only a couple of hours from there and we love it. Looks like you guys had a ball. Congrats.

WOW!! Sweet looking pics and bikes! Would love to ride though that. How close were you to the bear?

I was within the distance that would get you a sharp talking to from the ranger. Probably 40 feet at the closest. She didnt really take notice of us (there was about 20 people snapping pics), but when a jeep went through with a dog barking in the back, she really perked up. Kinda like she was thinking "How nice, they brought me a snack, and in an easy-opening can, too".

She started moving around, and then stared straight at me. I got a great pic of that, and then I realized that she was kinda looking at us the same way I look at a buffet. The guy next to me was about 60, and more overweight than me, so I figured I could at least outrun him, if I couldnt outrun the bear, so I stayed to take a few more pics. Got a neat one of the cub climbing a tree, but I was zoomed in so far that its a bit grainy.

Wow Tim, I'm jealous. What a trip. Life can't get any better than that.
Do us a favor and post more pics ok?

will do. I gotta resize all of them for display. I spent last night culling out the lousy shots (bad focus, blurry, etc.) and will resize the rest today and post them up.

Tim

Sure looks like and sounds like a great trip.

I love that area. It is the reason I move to TN when I retired from the Navy. My wife and I make at least one if not more trips a month into the National park, and to ride the Dragon or the foot hills parkway....

It's a nice 70 mile put from the House....
