wow, what a trip. 3 guys, 4 days, 5 states and 1680 miles total. Spent at least 12 hours in the seat each day (the secret? Baby Powder, and LOTS of it!)
If you own a motorcycle, sell the kids into slavery, or whatever you have to do to make this trip at least once. Thursday and Sunday were travel days, just hammering down the interstate. Friday, we did the Pigeon Forge-Foothills Parkway-Dragon-Fontanna-Cherokee-Smokey Mountain National Park-Gatlinburg loop. Saturday we went out down the dragon again and across the Cherohola Skyway and then back to maryville, townsend, and Cades Cove where I got to see a real live black bear and her cub out in the wild.
Took about a thousand pictures. Heres a taste of some of them.
Me (left) , and my buddies Mike (right) and Dave (short), on top of Klingmans Dome.
Running the River Road through the S.M. Natl. Park
Old grist mill at Cades Cove
Part of the 11 mile scenic loop at Cades Cove
Da bear
Artsy-fartsy shot of the mist rising on the Cherohola Skyway
This was my fifth time down to the Smokeys, Daves 9th, and Mikes first. We are already planning one for the fall.
