Alternator replace.

Nope. I stopped to check for a broken ground half way home and jiggle the wires around by the alternator and kept it running while I was in the parts store. The code set twice and freeze data shows 0mph both times and 30 degrees intake temp. That means it set then. I drove 60 miles home with the alternator not charging.

That code seems to be most commonly associated with a sludged up turbo internally to the vein control piston and vein sensor.

Do you think it could the voltage regulator Mike? If you have a new alternator, and it is not charging, it may be a bad voltage regulator. My father always told me to change both when replacing an alternator.
You really shouldn't be that close to anything "turbo" related while just changing the alternator.

Regulator is internal to the ad244 which is what lbz's had.

You might want to look into runnong a few changes with synthetic oil changed at 5k miles to clean out things. They say rotella 15w40 causes the actuator to get sludged up after 150k miles or so, and leads to the turbo vein codes.

I think Mike has the EGR blocked and is finger sticked. Wouldn't that cut down on the sludge in the turbo?
I think he also has the PCV vented.

That's correct Jeff. And I quit running Rotella at around 100k and have used Delvac 15w40 since. I do see an occasional VPS Code. I then run it hard a couple of times and clean it out. If there was some additive product to help with the clean out I'd sure be interested.

The sludge I'm reffering to is inside of the actuator piston where the oil moves the piston to control the veins. The oil in there basically sits with VERY little circulating, and it is in a HOT enviroment, so it just basically COOKS the oil into a sludge over time.

I actually am surprised I still have the same VPS at this point. I hear it cycling a lot when at idle but the fact I have very little idle time though all the miles may have something to do with it.

That 15w40 is the dino oil that is cooking correct?
