AC orifice tube location

Hit send button accidently. Don is Handcannon. He is one of the first on the forum to help me get my truck fixed up. They had to draw multiply, I mean lots of pictures and post them so I could do the OPS mod with the fuel pump relay. LOL Had a hard time with that one.

Ferm, if you were only closer I'd have you do the rear air on my burb.
 
There is one other possibility here with your air. First, is the fan pulling good airflow through the condenser? If so then there is a chance that somehow your truck got the old style A/C lines on it and it has an orifice tube in another location. In 88-89 they put the orifice tube in the hard line that runs from the condenser to the evaporator. It wasl ocated in a joint directly behind the high side pressure fitting on the passenger side fenderwell. Something just doesn't add up with yours though. If your high side is around 200, your low side should be around 40 or so, if it is close, you should have some cold A/C pipes somewhere. If you could post up a few pics of your system so we can see if maybe you have an old style A/C system on it.
 
Ok Fermanator I took the old condenser out and went ahead and put the new used one in. going to the ac shop at one pm n flush it n try again. I will take pics, my tablet does that and try to post them. I used to do that so ...... Pretty sure I dont have the old ststem, looked a th two other 91 tt
 
Hey someone at Napa the other day said something about reeds in the compressor breaking.....how do I know the compressor is good? Treegump has one....
 
If the compressor reeds break, you will see it on the guages. The high side pressure will be flutterring if they are broken.
 
Hey Fermanatorbwe got it.....I hope LOL The stop leak was breaking loose from the sides of hoses or the evaporator causing the thing to block up n then partially clear n then block etc. We now have the evaporator completely blocked! Yea! So I got the evaporator this afternoon out of the truck I been getting the other parts from and the guy is gonna put it in for me. Not a bad price either, so far got a hundred in new parts n freon n ester oil from Napa n the used condenser n evaporator r free. Forty to the shade tree mechanic for a can of extra can of freon n pulling a vacuum. Louis the reg ac shop guy said so far no charge but he wants 200.00 to change the evaporator and power flush it and pull the vacuum n charge it. Its gotta work we done replaced everything. I feel real good about it. Thats 340.00 for everything. The side benefit is that my oil cooler, condenser and radiator have been combed out and scrubbing bubble cleaned so I am positive I will run as cool as possible.
 
Went by the ac shop today to check on the truck, still in pieces but Louis said he was gonna start on it as quick as possible......I hope oh do I hope this is a success! Cross ur fingers Fermanator!
 
YEE HAW I GOT COLDDD AC IN MY TRUCK!!!!!! Louis just called n said it was fixed, has 2.25 lbs of 134a in it n he said it was the coldest truck he ever sat in! The junkyard evaporator did the trick. Bad news tho I was coming home from the doctors office just then n the Mustangs tranny messed up, fortunately I was only a mile from home n second seems to work.
 
2 lbs. is what my truck calls for......maybe yours is different?

Good for you.....Nothing like good AC when the whether is hot and humid.:thumbsup:
 
U r right, 2.5 lbs of 12R n then 80 % of that for 134a as a minimum but u add more based on the pressure n ambient temperature and humidity when testing it. I dont understand it but the math formula said 2.25 lbs was required. Ready for the desert now on my trip!
