So ever since I got my Ram, I've had a Feeling the Speedo was Off. When I was Driving at the Shown Speed in the Cluster, it just didn't Feel like I was going as Fast as it Showed.

So I went for a Drive with my Radar Detector, which has a GPS Speedo Built-In to it. Sure enough, the Speedo in the Cluster is Reading 5-6MPH FASTER than I'm actually going.

So when the Cluster Shows 45mph, I'm actually only going 39-40MPH.

Which I find Weird, because the Truck cam from the Factory with 4.10's, instead of the 3.73's that they come with Stock (I think?).

So basically, the Factory never Re-Calibrated the Speedo for the Gear Change.

So in Theory, that would mean that the Truck actually has LESS Miles on it than the Odometer Shows, right?

What kind of Radar Detector do you have w/ GPS Speedo? I think they should make GPS's with radar detection built in, not vice-versa. ;)

Escort Passport 9500IX.

...and Escort just Released GPS with Radar Detection. I'm thinking about getting it. :)

As I recall, gear changes have no effect on the speedo in a 97 as it reads off of the tone ring in the diff housing which is triggered off of a tone wheel atatched directly to the carrier assembly. It's tricky though as some of them worked off of teh sensor in the trans output housing, and some used both. It also boiled down to wether or not it had just RWAL or full ABS. I've even seen some with 3 speed sensors mounted in the driveline for everything.

Interesting...Looks like I'll have to Look into this more then. I thought just Changing the Speedo Gear would Fix it, but maybe not now.
