Does anyone know where to get a pre buy checklist for a Ford? I searched the Ford section here but none... It is an AOD 4x4 solid front axle..F250 srw crewcab. Possibly had front SAS at some point or did they come stock? (for my brother)

I don't think they ever had a solid front axle in that year POWERSTROKE. It was a screwy type set-up where it looks like a SFA, but the passenger side was connected via a driveshaft and held up by an I-beam.

F-350s had solid axles but the f-250s had those wierd i beams. then in 99 they decided to give everybody solid axles

That's called twin traction beam I believe....this is a solid front axle like an f-350.

The rear main on those is really tough to replace, Ithink have to pull motor, check for that. I was gonna buy one for a sander a while ago that needed one, and decided against it.

if its a 96 and a powerstroke it is not an AOD, either a 4r100 or an E4OD

somebody put that front axle in it if it is indeed a straight axle.

Yes your right it is an E4OD...maybe it's a re-badged F-350 as I don't think ford made a crew cab 4x4 F-250 in '96...Still looking for a checklist. Here's a pic. Nice looking truck?

My brother bought it. It seems to be ok, it is a high miler but in good shape. Cewcab shortbox is relatively rare in that vintage...the SFA seems to be a good conversion.
