Mine have all worked fine. I just can never get the ups and downs to stop where I want. We've had 3 1994's and my old 1989

Took me a bit to get used to it but I don't change things very often

That's what I do. Just leave things alone and adjust the fan speed. I only touch other buttons if necessary

Haha- same for me set and forget. Either full heat or full a/c. Only time I turn off recirc is if windows fog- and that is twice a year- haha.
The 94 truck style was used in 95 hummer. 96 hummers got the 2 dial type and 97.5 and newer ummers got the two dial with button in the middle of buttons.
