900 hp

EFI, Trans, twins, dual fuelers, lift pump, bigger nozzles, head studs, pistons, rods, and deep pockets to keep it together if you want to run it hard. This list is to make the power as reliably as possible. Can you make that power with out rods and pistons?? Absolutely but don't expect longevity out of it, the rods will bend and you will drop compression in a hurry. There are LB7's out there that have done 800+ many times but they did for the most parts live short lives.

Or go balls the wall and call up Guy at SoCal diesel, he can build you a stroker D-Max and the sky will be the limit.

I wanna run a single turbo on it and i have efi trans and lift pump already and lookiing at socal stg2 heads studs and pistons and rods now not sure what to go with

what all is needed to get 800 to 900 hp out of a lb7 ?

See fleece performance. They built one on extreme 4x4 last week. SoCal diesel LBZ heads, different cam, second injector pump. 900+HP, 1600+ lbft torque. Pretty sweet. Around $6-$7K IN JUST PARTS, twin turbos(compound) including a VGT TURBO.

I Saw that, but it def. didn't Look like that Turbo setup would Fit Under ANY Hood.

Unless they didn't really Clock the Turbo's much, because they had all the Room they Needed in an Open Dyno Room.

Good point. I never thought of the hood. I do not like how he deleted the glow plugs, or his cold start ether comment. Too much money invested to blow it away by ether starting.

A 68mm Cheetah can make 800 plus with some spray, but your egt's will be an issue with a big single on big tunes, and turbo lag will be killer compared to twin setup. The stock IHI is a bit restrictive and limited to what it can do around 500hp you can twin it and get 600-700 I would ditch the IHI if you do decide to go twin. A Aurora6000 can make mid 700's but I am not an ATS fan.

I guess Fleece will be your best option on a big single. And spray the shit out of it.

If you're serious about building the engine. Try to bypass these big "performance" shops as much as you can. They are nothing but the middle man..

I see you're in North Carolina. I have some contact info from a friend that praise a machine shop in your state. There are also a few good builders over in your area.

PM Racedaymechanic. He's in Mooresville and I'd guess he might know a few people. Then again he might check in here anyhow.
Oh... Welcome to The Truck Stop Crash!

thanks for the welcome and i wanna get as much out of this engine with a single and i can build it m self i just need the parts and a machine shop. 8100 where is them shop you were talking about. thanks for the help fellas

Also, Dustin @ Diesel Addiction would be great to talk to also. Both of these are in your state.

Speaking from experience here, I wouldn't go to FLEECE unless you have ALOT of time on your hands for your build. He took almost 3 months just to do a custom TCM flash for me when I built the BURB, then it took almost another 3 months before he finally talked to me on teh phone and said he couldn't make teh flash work for me. After that it took over a month for him to come up with another TCM since he locked mine up tight, and I still never got a full refund from him. I also never got my ECM tune he said he would give me when I bought my V2 from him. I know he does good work, but my experience was pretty bad(and I'm not the only one with this experience from him).

I could see where that would make me upset also, but I can only say good things about them they have been real good with the dealings I have had with them.

Another guy to inquire with is our very own Eric Merchant, Merchant Automotive. (if he is still on here...)

It's no problem. We support the vendors who support us. Eric signed up back in the day and never came back so ...
