9.9L Gas Conversion

It’s neat, but 550hp / 750 torque that nets 8mpg…
Duramax or Cummins any day of the week over that.

Same power, double the mpg, much longer engine life, more parts availability, lower purchase price, no body shake from idle, quieter ride if you choose. Less weight on those front springs for better handling, braking, etc.

I grew up on gasoline engines. Honestly I would prefer to work on a late 50’s-early 60s SBC over anything. Numbers like 18436572, 30° dwell, 8°btdc will just never leave my mind. I like gas over diesel for cars 99.9% of the time. But when weight gets involved the difference of a turbo diesel just deviates. Hence one of my dream cars of a 59 caddy as a daily driver getting a dmax.

I agree. My ideal conversion would be a Duramax LBZ into a 2005 Suburban 2500 4x4

I’m setting along the interstate waiting for the tow unit to arrive to haul this pig back to town.
That give me time to watch the video.
Yeah, that’d be a cool unit to drive but I also like the idea of a duramax in one of the suburbans.

There's a few out there

I think there's probably a few started and never finished

They don’t rust out west. The interior on the 2005 is superior and it still has steel bumpers. Can take a conversion much easier.
My favorite was actually the Suburban before the GMT400. Our 1989 Heavy half gasser k1500

We had a 1997 K1500 gasser we didn't like and didn't own long.

I bought the 1996 K1500 6.5 in San Antonio and sold the 1997

But the 1989 did rust around here

I also liked the much older Suburbans
