As I was driving back home this morning a 2002 Dodge ex-cab 4x4 with a Cummins and bull hauler stacks decided to pass me. Decided and tried and failed. This guy lives farther up the road from me and drives very fast all the time. About 7 miles from where I live is a flat 2 mile straight stretch and then a very straight and steep .8 mile hill, all of this and no side roads, no place to pull off, and no traffic. Wonderful!! Steep hill, very, going down the hill, with the speed limit being 45, a vehicle will hit 60 very easily so it is steep. I had heard this guy talk about his Cummins at the little story near here. His Cummins, his big air intake, big free breathing bull hauler stacks, and his computer work and had wondered if my new engine would keep up with his big Cummins with all his additions. As things progressed, down the straight stretch, with the white Dodge and bull hauler stacks heading at my tailgate at a high rate of speed I decided to put my foot into my loud pedal and see what would happed. As he was passing me and got to my door I was then at his speed and I looked at him and he was looking down at what I believe was his speedometer and is probably now wondering what is wrong with his engine. He backed off and got back in behind me and I slowed down to 45 again. Now I am at the base of the steep hill and he decided he would try to pass me again and I saw 2 black clouds of smoke from his stacks. Going uphill with this guy now charging around me I hit the loud pedal again and took off in the uphill direction. I caught up with the Dodge when my front tires were at his back tires and pulled right up to him looked over at him as I went past and kept on going. He got back in behind me and I slowed down to 45 again. He followed me at about 10 feet until I got to the little store near where I live. I slowed way down and motioned to him to turn in with me. He did and asked me what engine I had in my pickup, 'a big block'? I told him just a 6.2, of course he didn't believe me and had to lift the hood to show it to him. He said he never heard of a 6.2 having that much power and I had to say that I was expecting more from his Cummins. I then mentioned that it was probably the first time he had driven 45 in the 45 zone around here. He got in his Dodge and drove off with out even saying 'good-bye'! I drove home with a smile like the Cheshire Cat! Life is Good! Now if this engine would just get broke in so it would perform better!
