Ok guys, need a little help. I’m trying to sell my rig,1999 gmc suburban 6.5.family owned since new and maintained as a daily driver.let me give a little back story, my dad Bought the truck new in AZ. When he passed I took it And I have maintained it and spared no expense in keeping it in great shape. two years ago I installed a new injection pump from accurate diesel in Orlando and had it timed by my mechanic. Actually he did all the work. About 6 months ago I had a bad injector so I replaced all of them again from accurate,I also replaced my glow plugs from auto zone and this is where I believe the problem started. I don’t drive the truck very far but when I do sometimes it’s hard to start warm, when I let it sit for 15 minutes or so. I can turn it on and off after she’s warm no problem, it’s only when it sits for a few minutes that it has trouble. I usual drive to work 10miles and park it and drive home no problem. A couple of times I’ve poured water over the pump and it fires right up. I don’t think it’s the pump because I get white smoke when it does fire which means unburned fuel. tech at accurate says to install a glow plug override? there Is absolutely no blow bye at all on the motor and it has never been abused towing heavy items, 4K boat at the most short distance to the lake. Any help would be appreciate, or a reference to a great mechanic in the Orlando area that knows these trucks. I will spend whatever is needed to repair the truck because I’m not the kind of person that sells something that’s not on the up and up18E8F0C8-D08D-4022-9B25-612FA7ED9BC8.jpeg21539A66-C079-48F1-ADB8-9E1A054A23EC.jpeg8AF9A2CD-CCE6-442A-A36D-9DC9D4B75AE9.jpeg

Sounds like a IP, if it starts fine when you pour water on it that says the head & rotor is worn, and the IP can cause gray smoke as well...

I bet they installed a "rebuilt" IP and not a brand new one...

They did, and of course it comes with a 1 year warranty. And at two years it is happening.id like to find a great mechanic that knows these trucks to install a new one

Yup. Sorry for the bad news but it sounds exactly like the ip was rebuilt using and old worn out pump. They don’t do rebuilds with new head and rotor or else that becomes a new ip. Imo, a person is better slapping on a junkyard one than a rebuilt ip. Other than that - get a new one.
Problem now is the money your going to put into it is gonna eat up sell price a lot.

There might be someone here that is trustable for a use ip. But there just isn’t a good fix for worn head and rotor.
Maybe post it for sale here incase anyone is looking for a burb to add to their collection.

Well John I saw your FB posting, it would be hard for me to make a purchase knowing 2-3K would need to be spent right after I purchased it... but someone may want it bad enough... best of luck ...

Link and asking price?

No sense in fixing it to sell it: this is the kind of discount a buyer on here would like and then they drop a DB2 on the damn thing kicking the PMD mess to the curb. Just saying there are better options for the buyer.

When you post pics- please use full size. Many phones can’t open them well enough to look at details- it eliminates the zoom capabilities like to look at turbo and such.

Figure the price of replacement ds4 and labor and subtract off asking price is a simple starting point.

Face book 6.5 diesel page. asking $8500 fixed 6k way it sits

Is there a direct link for those that don't have a Facebook? Facebook is a real pain to those searching around it without an account.
