How are the 1980's military db2's different (better?), specifically the 4520 to 4524 versions? Is it worth getting a core from ebay, or can pretty much any db2 be built to match any advantages they might have?
There are some posts on the Steel Soldiers website that'll answer your questions. Basically the same pumps and usually low hours, often replaced trying to figure out a problem and didn't really have anything wrong with it, though not always. They're run on JP4, not diesel, so lubricity is sometimes an issue. One's from HMMWVs have 24 volt solenoids, CUCV's 12 volt.
The internals are hardened to withstand the lack of lubricity of running different fuels such as kerosene, jp4, and jp8. It still wears them out, but it helps a lot.
