4L80E I need help

I have a 93 3500 6.5 Turbo My transmission started when I pulled out it would not take for a second and then it would be just fine with no slipping or any thing. So I found a 94 transmission with low miles and swapped it out and now it only will change from 1st to 2nd. Is the transmission bad?

I'm not sure but the shift solenoids and/ or sensors on a 93 and a 94 may be different. Did you swap everything over to the new tranny?
 
Thanks for the wecome. All we did was change the transmission. Can the parts be changed over? And how hard is it to do?
 
If all the plugs mated up then my first post probably doesn't matter.

I would do as AK suggested and check and clean all the grounds.
 
all the plugs fit great, but on the main plug it was pushed a little ways back into the tranny. We would not have seenm this but fluid dripped from it.
 
Valve bodies are different slightly as well as the TCC solonoid was changed from 93-94. The swap is doable though, but I can't remember off the top of my head what all is involved. I believe you need to swap out the TCC solonoid inside the pan, and there is a whole or 2 that has to be drilled. Also I'm assuming you already upgraded the plug as it changed from 93-94 as well. Also if this is a 4X4, you have to pull the trans back out and disassemble the rear section to install the output tone wheel on the output shaft. 91-93 used both an input and output speed sensor in the trans for teh ECM to shift whereas 94 eliminated the output tone wheel inside the trans as the new ECM could get by with just the sensor in the transfer case and calculte gear ratios by the 4X4 low input wire.
 
Just doing my 94 Tranny as we speak. 94 K3500 Diesel tarnny's are only interchangable with 94's. Its because of the electronics. I have the 4L80E manual and it also states there are a few differances as well.

You can directly swap in any 4L80E/85E from 94 on back into a 94, but if it is a 97+ you have to get the adapters for the cooler lines. 91-93 are some what of a redheaded stepchild. In 95 though the boss was added for the NSBU switch, so 95+ require a 95+ tranny to go back into them. 97+ were the rear lubers and used larger cooler lines that hooked up slightly differently.
