2004 Yukon XL 2500 LBZ

Off road style tire mount outside the back door or on the roof? build you a custom storage box that could lift up and down with the spare tire cable hoist device? something that can hold your jack, lug wrench and other tools and spare parts like belt and whatnot!

Made it to WA. ~900 mi’s. Found a little snow but pretty slushy on the roads as it was starting to melt and rain a bit. The tires felt good. I definitely can tell the difference in the steering precision from the Michelins vs the Toyos. Not terrible but definitely different. But I think the Toyos ride a bit softer/more comfortable. Might be due to different size/tire psi too. Generally I like them. Fairly quiet but definitely not silent like the Michelins. Got another couple hundred miles later this week and possibly some deeper snow to try them in.
 
Doing some searching/researching tonight I think I may have finally narrowed down the odd metallic-ish clunk/clank/pop I get on acceleration. This has been occurring on and off for the last 3-4 years and I haven't even able to nail it down.
Seems to be noticeable around the driver side front wheel well / firewall area. Really hard to explain the sound but it's definitely related to acceleration and specifically up hill or with a trailer. So I changed out the body mounts a while back and redid the suspension around that time and since then did not have any noise since then for a good 6-8 months. I figured it was something there that fixed it. But lately I've been noticing it again (same noise, same occurrence). So as of tonight I'm leaning towards motor mounts -- which seems to make sense. Also if the motor is moving due to failed/failing motor mounts then that could be why my power steering line worked its way loose when it failed the second time. Still up in WA for now, I'll get a chance to look at it this week before we make our way back home next weekend. Can't believe I didn't think of the motor mounts before.
 
So im pretty sure the motor mounts are my issue. Motor def rocks a bit when I rev it up in gear in place. I ordered mounts. Not likely to get to them before we make our way home. So Im gonna have to nurse it back this trip and work on that after I get home. It's been doing it for probably 3years at this point and only when really on the throttle so I’ll take it easy heading back.

Amazon, or as @dbrannon79 would say, the jungle site has the original AC Delco units for a real good price.
Add doesnt specify if You need to order 2 to get the full set.
Reviews discuss it is a bear to change them.

I don't know about the GMT800 motor mounts, but I know the GMT900 mounts, at least the ones on my Escalade are a problem, even on stock trucks. A lot of people swear by the Atomic Fab mounts as a permanent solution. That's what I'm planning to do FWIW.

I put the Hummer mounts on my 900 burb. You can feel a little more vibration but they don't fall apart like the hydraulic ones

I thought about the Hummer mounts, but for the money it seems smart to just go all the way with the Atomic Fab ones. I have plans for putting some more herspers into it, so I want to have the added insurance.
 
Made it home. Ended up ordered factory GM original since they have made it this long and I'm a real sucker for smooth quiet drives (thats part of why I like my GM trucks). I won't be able to get to it for a few weeks but the truck will mostly be parked for that time. Gotta get the mounts replaced and likely have to look at my PSC gear box as there's some weird feeling going on with it since running the pump dry twice now. Talking with PSC they suggested checking all obvious joints for slop, etc which I did. Even mentioned checking the frame for cracking -- I would have been shocked if that was the case -- it wasn't. so I'll be pulling the gearbox out and send it to them probably next week to tear into it and see what's wrong. Not a failure on PSC's part mostly my fault.

Also need to look into what's going on here......

These are factory GMC Yukon Denali housings that I installed about 7 years ago. I only see moisture in the passenger side. Hopefully just a bad seal around the bulb. I'll pull it out and dry it out and see if I can figure out where the moisture got in.

I think thats basically all I need to do before heading back out to TN in May.

If you don’t see it, pull the bulb and rig a way to pressurize it just a few psi and spray with soapy water. Bubbles will show where…

In prepping for this upcoming trip I noticed today that my fass was making an inconsistent chugging noise at idle. It’s always made noise like a whine noise but it was smooth and consistent. Lately it’s started sounding worse and inconsistent. Today is definitely different than it’s ever sounded before. Filters are only 3k miles old and it started making noise before the last time I changed them. but I guess I could change them again to make sure. Hopefully the noise comes through in the cjdeo. Any ideas? I know I can call fass and run the bucket test to make sure so restrictions but it’s been on there for a little over 130k miles and never had any issues til recently. Just wanted to check in and see if anyone on here experienced this.

I know it’s a flow through design so if it does fail I guess I shouldn’t be stranded. But I’d like to figure it out before we leave in a couple weeks.

Is this a 6.5 ? ? ? ?
Get a fuel pressure gauge next to the injection pump, then You will know exactly whats going on with the FASS system.
Also, if You have the clear hose attached to the top of the IP and see if there is air intrusion.

Yeah I need to hook up the pressure gauge that I have yet to install into the fass. There’s no screen or filter that I’m aware of from the tank. It’s using the fass 5/8 suction tube and bulkhead. I’ll start with the gauge then pull the supply line and then suction line and see if that has any affect on the noise.
