l'm going to need to replace my water pump. Looked for background in the reference area, but found none. From what I can tell, many plates come off. Seems to be more work than is needed to R/R a water pump. Anybody have good instructions, pictures, video?

1999 water pump removal

This is from a 95 hummer manual so water cross over is a bit different, but annoying plate design is the same.
Tear everything apart like a normal waterpump change would be, then yes you have to take off the stupid plate design with the waterpump. My theory is a mechanic was cheating with an engineers wife, next day he went to work and designed this...

I have done this twice on my 1999 Suburban and I am just a shade tree mechanic.
