Hey there, I have a 1995 Gmc 1500 4x4 I blew up my 5.0 the other day but have acquired a 1995 Chevy 2500 4x4 with a 6.5 turbo Diesel, I was wondering what it would take to swap it over? Frame on the 2500 is shot and the motor has 102,000km along with a rebuilt trans. If anyone has done this swap and could tell me what all is involved swapping between the two trucks! Thanks everyone!

Agreed. You SHOULD (boy, I hate that word sometimes!) be able to use the engine, tranny and main harnesses off the diesel and just exchange them with the gasser (don't forget to swap the instrument clusters, either, to get the WTS light and Diesel Only fuel gauge. You might just swap out the dashboards to make it easier. Also, you'll need to swap the fuel tanks and use the diesel external fuel pump, too). Lastly, you'll need the diesel ECM to swap.

Find a good 6.5 diesel with a blown engine. Swapping everything is a big job.

Engine and transmission bolt right in the electrical is a different story

Well, talking with my nephew about doing his J10 to a 6.2 from a gasser.
All mechanical gauges, eliminate everything electrical possible. Rip out everything electrical from original truck and start over seems to still be the easiest version.
