Probably so.Yup, but for us with stock type of AF system that could create an even larger source of outside air directly into the AF snorkel.

I believe thats a grand idea so I’m thinking of copying what You did there.
I found a set of these.
But I’m going to do some measuring afore I order them.
I too had been looking at hood scoops but did not want a bunch of water pouring in, or snow. Your plan with the fender skirts is an excellent alternative.

Downpipe is painted and wrapped.

Very clean. I wrapped mine on the '94, unfortunately being my plow truck it vastly expedited the rot and I ended up replacing the downpipe barely 2 winters after.

Yeah, that’s why I didn’t want to wrap the headers, but since this is stainless, I’m hoping it will hold up.

I took some time off for a trip, but got back at it today. I was thinking some more about how to make the hole and how to fasten the scoop to the fender and came up with what I think is a better idea: rather than make a trim ring that sandwiched the scoop to the fender, I decided to make a more finished opening and adhere the scoop to the inside of the fender with 2-sided VHB tape.
First step was making a ring for the opening out of 3/16” steel rod.
Once the ring was complete, I used that as a template for marking the opening in the fender and then cut it out and trimmed it.
Lots of MIG tacks and grinding and it was welded to the fender.
Mocked up what the installed scoop will look like. I’d like to do some bodywork to the scoop to make it smoother/prettier.
On the backside you can see the hole I cute for scoop installation as well as the ring from the backside.
And the mocked up scoop.
I’ll be adding some kind of mesh to keep stuff out of the duct. It isn’t going to be piped to my intake, it’s just going to dump air into the large area I have allocated for the “airbox”.

Might look into some of that windshield glue in a caulk tube and clamp it till it sets.. it's some really strong stuff... Lot of rod shops use it...

Ok, I’ll look into it. We use VHB tape at work to permanently install the lenses to our light cartridges and it’s also really strong stuff. You have to damage the lens to remove it from the aluminum casting.
This stuff comes in a caulk tube, easy to place but hard to remove and you can squish it out like mashing a valve cover down .. I think the right stuff would work also...

That stuff could definitely do the trick, I watched them put the windshield in the Escalade last fall. I was thinking I’d have a lot leftover with nothing to use the remainder on. The Great Stuff is a good idea…..that’s something I’d use, and it certainly is tough. And if it doesn’t work, I can always do the VHB later.
I think you should make me one of those rings also for the ideas

I injured my ankle so I haven’t been able to get anything done for a bit, but today I was finally able to get back out to the barn. I got the fender vent sheet metal welded into the driver side fender. I’m happy with how it turned out.

Finally have the accessory drive figured out. I tried a few belt sizes to figure out the length that would work with my unique setup. What’s unique is I have 2 AD244 alternators, I have the pulleys to get the alternator RPM correct for the 1994 tach and I have the AC compressor spaced up 6mm so the Sanden compressor clears the mounting bracket. The best combo I found was to use a smaller tensioner pulley in place of the correct idler pulley and the corrext belt for the 1998 dual alternator setup.

With an alternator setup like that You could convert that truck to a back to the future unit.
