Hi there,

I recently changed front brake pads on my chevy, bled the sys incl ABS, but the brake pistions would not retract
and stay in brake mode which causes overheating and disintegration of the pads,

what causes the pistions not to retract?

thanks

Retract..

As in, after braking, the brakes are still partially applied?

Sometimes the rubber flex lines can give you fits like this. They can hold pressure against the caliper, thus the brake pads...

In this case, replace the rubber flex lines...

Seeing as how your in the great salt belt, are the calipers sliding freely? How hard was it to push the piston back in them? COuld be sticking caliper slide pins, sticking calipers at the spindle arm, partially blocked brake lines, or faulty calipers.

You mean New England?

Maybe this fella is located in England UK?

All the above apply though in most situations..

Semantics semantics....;)

Indeed - England in the UK!
the calipers seem to move freely ok - the pins are well lubed
is there a way to suspend the ABS system? I removed the brake fuse which caused the car to go into limp mode

thanks
