So I pulled the intake on my 6.2 to replace all rubber fuel hoses....there 8 1/2in plugs 4 on each head just under the intake...looked like 2 were leaking just a tad....hit them with the air hose and poof, gone....Anyone ever changed them ? Not fun ! 18 new cuss words came to me and I still have to put the intake back on.....if you are loosing some coolant, might want to look under the intake......

Thats the first I have heard of loosing coolant through those plugs.
With those plugs pulled, the holes can be reamed and threaded then those Lock-N-Stitch cracked head sleeves inserted and sealed down.

That is uncommon- super uncommon.

Imo remove the block lower drain plugs and flush that engine and radiator. For those to fail - i would suspect the regular freeze plugs will fail soon also.

The thing Marty is referring to is NOT lock&stitch.

It’s a repair for the steam pockets- which those plug up. There is a YouTube video of a guy showing how to do it. 10mm drill bit and brass sleeve - or close to that size. You have to tap the holes for 1/8” npt to plug them up afterwards.
Check out TwistedSteelPerformance for what he did with those taped out plug holes….

I would second that notion.. need to flush out the block and check the other freeze plugs. I believe I saw those on RA. installing pipe plugs might end up contacting the intake not allowing it to sit on the heads properly. If you do that, I would go with the allan head pipe plugs so they will sit flush in the head. I will look on RA and see if I can find those freeze plugs.

side note: there are no freeze plugs on the back of the block so if you do need to replace them all, just remove the exhaust manifolds an you can access the side plugs. you will need to lift the engine and pull the engine mount saddles off the block too. but you won't need to pull the engine.
