B-Oil: What can I say, bored at work...I get to the camp on weekends, in the Bay St Louis area.
WW: I honestly forgot to check for the aforementioned AC belt slap last summer...AC still works tho...I try to live by a couple of Golden Rules: If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. AND: No...
I used a thin metal gasket that came with a used turbo I bought, don't know where you'd buy it, someone said ATT (?).
Ya, the oil return line gasket was hard to scrape off, but that's prolly why it leaked on mine too. The 1"x2" hose connector to the blcok adapter was leaking on mine too...
What you describe may be tinnitus (not sure about spelling). Siemens and others have a hearing aid that may help with that. I did some work once for a hearing aid manufacturer and at the time (8 tyrs ago), that was a breakthrough technology back then. It actually can be a very debillitating...
Ya...some people like it loud... There is a serious side to this though. I work in the process industry; refineries and chem plants. We're constantly educated in Hearing Conservation.
About thirty years ago, I noticed that when I would go into friend's houses, I'd see the old man in the...
Well, after replacing the stock system with a Diamondeye 4" system over the holidays (http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showthread.php?t=19218), I found the sound too loud for my liking. The exhaust tone sounded good when the engine was unloaded, but under load it was really loud. This vehicle...
turbo removal tips:
If your back is up to it, I suppose you could remove the turbo heat shields and do it from above (?). You'd be laying all on top of the motor to get at the lines.
I don't really enjoy working on my engine though from above. I can remove my passenger wheel and fender...
thx, followup thread coming. Just ordered the Walker 21471 BTM from RockAuto (5% discount code: 26131852166321  ). 27" shell length vs 20" (Diamond Eye glasspack). It's still a straight thru design, shouldn't affect performance too much, hoping it's quieter than the muffler the DE...
crossover $78 shipped
DE system - approx $300-350 IIRC. I ordered it over the phone from Treasure Valley Diesel, don't have the paperwork handy. I'm glad I did because their eBay listing made me think I needed one kit but I really needed a different kit. I seem to remember that the Sub and...
not a warpspeed crossover!
I just realized that the crossover I installed was probably not a Warpspeed but a unit I bought of an eBay seller (muffler-house). It sat in my garge for about a month and I had forgotten where I got it (early-Oldtimer's disease setting in?).
It still was a good...
ur welcome...just trying to give something back to the group (& I had a little time at the office that day :smile5: ).
I really appreciate the open exchange of experiences and ideas here.
I elected to install a 2.5" Warpspeed crossover when I installed the Diamondeye exhaust. See my thread on this project: http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showthread.php?t=19218
My reasoning was as follows:
24% greater flow area than stock 2.125" pipe(4.91in2 vs 3.97in2), 1/4" diff in...
time for CDR?
I had oil seepage on my boot and build-up on turbo inlet also. Got tired of seeing the mess. Changed out CDR w/ new and the seepage is pretty much gone. Wished I would have gotten a new CDR grommet for the vlv cover ahead of time, but I just gooped the old one w/ red silicone...
coil adjustment
thx for the reminder Matt. I hadn't thought to cross check my dash gauge. All I've got is the Gmtd software, at least it'll give me a digital reading.
thx, I had a little time to do the thread and felt I'd give back to the forums for all the info & goodwill I've found here.
The way to really cleanup my engine compartment would be to go with a mech inj system. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of electronic controls (that's my profession)...
Bobbie: nice job on your project and the thread! I'll refer back to it if I ever yank my engine/trans. Kind of un-nerving to find out that you were driving around with cracked main brg supports(?). Makes me wonder about mine.
One of my rear heater's aluminum downtubes between the...
