A Team Turbo A Year Later

Wouldn't do without it. I had to put a blanket on it after cooking my coolant reservoir. That was two years of pulling 20k to Burning Man and back. It needs a heat shield with that kind of regular hill climbing with a heavy load. I've got Heath's original ATT tune, it sounds like there is a...

    Turbo Blanket for Heat Shield?

That's way cheaper than the raw materials kit I got at Baxter's Auto Parts (local shop). You'll need it, I damaged my radiator surge tank running a couple of years without one. The ATT runs cooler than a stock turbo but not cool enough when pulling heavy for many miles. Now I'm insulating...

Real time tuning for OBDII 6.5's? maybe.....just maybe

I've always preferred to have enough rope to hang myself with. Sign me up! Mike

How to install 98-01 Dodge towing mirrors on a GMT400

Do the Dodge mirrors fold flat against the doors? My Cibas only fold back about half way and it's about useless. They will fold all the way forward though :WTF: Okay, I'm almost sold since I don't like my Ciba mirrors and I can hook up the heat now. Mike

    Noisey cold...start concerns or?

The noise is one of the reasons the factory setting is not -1.9 on the TDCO. Once your temp gets past 160 and the PCM takes over the timing it quiets down. Mine rattles the neighborhood windows for blocks when I try to ease out on a cold morning. (( :rof: )) It won't hurt anything as long as...

    Intake Air Tempuratures

I wish the ISSPRO fuel pressure gauge I have came in a different case style. It would be perfect for our trucks; 0-15 PSI full sweep, electric sender, green zone from 2-6 PSI. It's a fuel pressure gauge for carbureted airplanes so it's got that aircraft style of case...

    Intake Air Tempuratures

If you're pulling any kind of load up a long hill you should see IAT in the 250-300 range even with the ATT. I can set mine on a sustained 10 pounds of boost and my ScanGauge2 will "peg" at 299 degrees F. Then the EGTs start looking for 1200+. Now I'm talking about a hill that takes several...

    WMI reservoir location

From my experience you're going to have to experiment with a five gallon can or two just to see what your consumption is when you're pulling the load. With my A Team Turbo my boost is lower so I don't need as much water flow. I have the controller set on the minimum pressure settings (on at 2#...

    Power for guages?

I've looked for a "fuse tap" in a lot of places and don't find them. Where do you get them? Mike

    The Bare Knuckle???

After I got all the bugs worked out of my 6.5 I hardly had anything to do. So I bought a '97 Jag, they're cheap like a 6.5 and now I have plenty to do... ..just a suggestion for when you get "finished" with your rig.

    12-13 PSI Boost with GLE.

How heavy are you total with trailer? I'm guessing the truck is about 7500 empty, has 4.10 gears, and the stock turbo? Do you have an EGT and/or intake temperature gauge? Those will tell you if you're doing any damage over the long term. Pulling something like the grapevine you'll see intake...

    Another Towing Mirror Question

I've got the Cipa's, they work except they don't fold flat against the doors for tight parking spots. They actually fold FORWARD to the fender and I think that was a really dumb idea. The later version shown by the OP would be nicer since they have a better blind spot mirror. When I ordered...

    A-Team Turbo?

I saw a substantial improvement with the stock ECM but I was always getting it to de-fuel due to intake temps. The ATT solved that and the later addition of the Heath GLE-S for the ATT made even more improvement. Yours I believe is a mechanical IP so you wouldn't have the de-fueling problem I...

    A-Team Turbo?

What do you use your truck for? Are you some where that you have to get an emissions inspection? I think my ATT is one of the most critical mods I have done to my truck but I pull a heavy load. If I was a quarter-miler it would probably not be the best choice. If the state looks under your...

    Which upgraded fan is better?

I've got the Kennedy super fan clutch and went with the 9 blade steel fan. I haven't had a cooling problem since. But, when it kicks in it sounds like I'm going to vacuum up the road. Not a bad thing just doing what it is supposed to do but some folks don't like it that noisy. You can see...

    Heath ATT reflash

This is an interesting thread. Obviously I've been too busy for a while to keep up with what's been in the works. I'm really interested in how well Heath's TCC works in the '98 since it's really easy to put the tranny in limp mode with the BD TorqLoc I've got now. With some of the curvy hills...

    10.5 mpg at 20,000 pounds

Was getting down to high 20s/ low 30s on the steepest part. On the 20 mph corners I would kick down to first gear. On the flat freeway I was running 65-70, almost home up to 75ish. Most of the time on the two lane around 50-60. It's fair to say that pulling the steepest parts I was not...

    10.5 mpg at 20,000 pounds

 Burning Man 2010; 985 miles round trip on 94 gallons of fuel. From Portland, OR to Gerlach, NV, three mountain passes with 6% plus grades up to 6300'. 20,100# GCW going and 18,700# coming back (less 115 gallons of water). The Heath WMI was an improvement over last year. I...

    DIY Upgrades

Just for the record, I pull 12,000 pounds of horse trailer with the stock small water pump and single t-stat with no heating problems. My radiator is spotless clean. I would focus on relocating the PMD. Just make sure you build a good heat sink and get it out in the cool air. Mike
