When I got rid of my 6.5 (no complaints, overall was very good to me)
I got a 2004 DC Duramax, not exactly what I was looking for, but got
a very good deal on it - never was crazy about it, finally sold it...
and got more than I paid for it, so that's good...
Anyway, for now I'm back to...
Got the engine out right now, figured I'd put a new
timing chain on it while it's out, got the new one in,
and it's no tighter than the old one with 230,000
miles on it! :mad2:
I know this is not the forum for this, not sure where it goes.
Where can I get replacement insulation for the firewall?
Between motor / bellhousing and firewall. I also need to
replace the insulation on the hood.
Anyone with personal experience? Good, bad......
There is another site that goes by 6.5liter.com, that's not
the one I'm interested in.
Don't know yet if I am gonna need a new engine,
just checking around.
OK, I know there is no such thing as a rod knock that goes away,
but that's what this sounds like. Once in a while (maybe once every 3 days)
sitting at idle, it will start this clunk, clunk sound. Lasts about 5 - 10 seconds.
About 4 months ago, I had to replace the main pulley, which has a...
Not mine, I saw them while looking at Dodges.... :D
May be selling my truck soon, if I find a replacement first.

Mine is going out, I believe. I am leaving on a 4 day Jeep trip in the morning.
Decided to pop into AutoZone and pick one up to bring with me, so
I'd be able to change it if it completely quits - I was expecting price to be
about 40 dollars....... 165.00 :yikes:
NAPA, O'Reillys, Advance...
Not really engine related. Unplugged the POS ABS module today, it's
been raining, roads are wet, good time to try it out.
This is the best the brakes have ever felt! If I want, I can lock them, but
there's no butt clinch factor, it's controllable, unlike the ABS, which used
to detect...
I have put up with oil leaks under my truck for a long time, but recently
I had a larger puddle than normal overnight - upon checking, it appears
that one of the stock cooler lines (which I replaced about 3 years ago)
has a leak, or maybe a crack, right at the area of the crimp.
I am gonna go...
Have had a fairly decent oil leak for about 3 years, has gotten to adding
a quart every 700 miles or so. It's coming from the front, but I really can't
tell where.
I am fairly lazy,so I need to know - would it be worth the effort to
pull the balancer and change just the oil seal, or pull...
Yesterday, my truck began cranking slow - still fast enough to start
the engine but noticeably slower than normal. This developed all of
a sudden, one start fine, next one was slow. I checked all the cables,
slight corrosion at the terminals, cleaned them and same thing.
Checked battery...
This just showed up on CL in Baton Rouge area; posted here
cause it's probably gonna go fast, mods can move at will

What is the correct name? Harmonic balancer pulley?
Mine is separate piece from the balancer, I believe. Where can I find
this pulley? Don't see it in O'Reilly or Autozone websites, this
weekend I am gonna pull it (it's definitely bad, can rotate it 2-3" by hand)
Yes, I am gonna check the HB...
Had hard 1-2 shift for last 3-4 years, started gradually, but became
pretty much every time it shifted - had a couple of shops try to talk
me into pulling it down, but I didn't think the problem was mechanical.
Was in the dealer a month ago for something else, told them about the
hard...
Truck has had this problem around 4 years, learned to lift foot slightly
just before shift point - now gotta relearn how to drive it!
Background: changed wheel cylinders and calipers this week, had trouble
getting firm pedal afterwards and found out the ABS had to be activated
to completely...
Bought a new D-tech and 6 foot extension harness, pulled off the old
cooler that I had mounted on the intake, drilled and tapped holes inside
bumper (PITA to access) drilled and tapped the cooler so I could have the
D-tech and Stanadyne mounted side by side, so I'd have an easy backup,
ran the...
I ordered a new D-Tech and extension harness, already have a heat sink.
Going to mount it in the bumper, I know a lot of folks have made their own remote mounts, what are people using to seal the PMD on the heat sink?
Silicone, epoxy......?
