basically there is little pressue on trans cooler hose
so just use a premium oil proof hyd hose
what does make a difference is easy bends and routing away from heat and rubbing
and size make a BIG difference (you can do the calcs of hose flow and bends and length)
Dodge went from 5/16 to 3/8 to...
I have the chiltons and found the Chevrolet electrical manual online- the Fleetwood drawings did not match the van- fun
Since the owner does not drive at night the taillights may never have worked
none of the wires to the trailer socket work
Rewired the taillights
There was no +12 to the rear (as shown for the trailer hitch)
The only working tail light was a SIGNAL in socket F (small wire) in the Chevrolet 10 way connector
(which was Mickey moused into a 4 way connector with a large gauge wire running forward and another large...
turns out hole was under drivers step not under fuse box
wires change color 3 times between taillight and connectors near rear end
don't you just love it
there were three cut wires but they may just be builders not used dead ends as there were no matching on cab side of hole
go figure
As for Coolers I just scored TWO Borg Warner Canada 9x11 plate coolers mounted in SERIES on a 1991 BIG 460 FORD VAN - fluid was new and bright red
these appear to be OEM judging from the mounting bracket and hoses but if not a first class kit-- Thank you pick a part
Big FORDS 460 and V10 also...
builder went bk in 2008-9 timeframe
GM wiring diagram shows wire to rear
going to the wrecking yard to see a couple of other vans and see how GM would have routed
will not be able to move motorhome to place where I can disable for about a week then pull fuse box and loosen cable and pull up...
Schematic show the wires as GM back to the rear axle area where there are two connectors for builder however builder could have re-routed the gm wire where it leaves the under seat fuse box
several hold downs are not in place
just had pics taken, will post up later tonight what I need to know is if Chevrolet routs wires straight down through sheet-metal under the seat through about a 2" hole or is stock out the back or somewhere else Is this a Chevrolet Problem or the Motorhome builder problem
Nice officer "noticed" that I had no lights at the back of 2008 3500 Express Motorhome
so 4 way to campground
book said fuse 15 for tail and backup
nope fuse good and when pulled BU still worked- go figure
got home by driving day only
got under and discovered under drivers seat- Body fuse box...
Maybe but impossible to tell We know what ATF+4 is and Allison spec Transend but both are older specs with premium additive packages
The Citgo Quatrasyn has later synthetics, which have come down in price relatively since Transend and ATF+4 or DEX VI were developed
Redline and AMsoil should be...
REPORT
Bought a new 22mm six point impact socket
virtually NO wiggle
7/8 six point has considerable wiggle
7/8 12 point would strip
I replaced the stripped nut as it had considerably more slop than the good nuts
I pulled the hubcap off the other front- looks ok
now tomorrow the rears
Have not found my 22 so go get one tomorrow
would like to get the rounded one off without total destruction
holding a new Craftsman 21 in my hand as we speak but too dark to try tonight
I'll double check tomorrow
21mm is...
On the early Dodge OD trans like the 518 the return lube flow from the cooler goes through the case (tailshaft) into a bushing that feeds the center of the output shaft which is the lube to the thrust washers in the OD and other things.
The early OD planetaries had a high helix angle thus lots...
