Had a '65 Elky... I sold it and still kick myself for doing it. Always wanted to drop a 6.6 into it. Now looking for Chevelle wagons... ultimate touring car. :D
I sure as shit ain't putting my dump trailer behind a gasser. With a 3800lb empty weight, you can guess what it'll gross out at and as good as the new gassers are getting, I don't think they have the balls to haul that.
Like truckie said, I love driving it, sound of it, mileage and the fact...
When you pull it off and see a 150* drop in EGT's, and a noticeable increase in pedal response, I think it's safe to assume that it's pretty restrictive. :D I'd cut mine apart except I have to put it back on once a year to smog it for my registration.
x2 there. Not LLY only though, its that way on all the classic style. my 03 did that too.
Same^^.
Only issues I've had so far is the ISS. Never overheat, icepicked the harness the day I bought it, been running like a champ
I've gone through 8 AC Delco batteries in 2 trucks in 3 years. Pieces of worthless shit would be an understatement.... they refused warranty because they said heat killed it. No f***in shit genius, this is vegas, but your warranty does state 3 yr free replacement.
Anyway, I run redtop...
LLY will have a FICM mounted on the valve cover. LBZ and up will not. If no one has screwed with the motor/trans combo, the LLY will have the 5 spd behind. Like Jones said, you'll need the harnesses, ECM, TCM, etc to make it work. Not sure if the throttle pedal will need to be replaced or not.
I was getting that for a while too... found out if I back it down from 120 to 80mph, I could climb to ~15mpg. Usually don't see more than that since my truck is always around 8500lbs with 100lbs of wheel/tire on each corner. My DIC tells me I'm getting 22.1 though ):h .... Those POS never work...
gettin there :D .... converter definitely feels a little looser now....
My sister tried that in San Diego. Big tune, 4th gear, took a C6 (not a Z06) from 55-85..... Pretty sure he didn't downshift though. Funnier than shit to see his face though when he rolls by and he sees its a chick...
Ever sat in a duramax with a 500+ hp and a 4wd boosted launch?? ..... he either had traction control off, no traction control at all, or was just a dumbass, because he was spinning the whole time.
Re read the post. I know I would have gotten worked..... but for the couple seconds we ran, I...
....do it with intimidation.
Got a C6 Z06 saturday. Saw him coming up behind me in the right lane, had just enough time to get it into 4 hi before stopping at the light. Switch the DSP to the big tune, gave it about 23-2400 rpm and let it eat on the green. I don't know if he dumped the...
Always a plus. Most right now get a window high blanket squirting out from under the truck..... course the whole underside now looks like a giant oreo from all the soot.... :D
Came back from San Diego last night. Raced a reg cab short bed 5.7 tundra up the ramp from mission gorge onto 125. Had him by an easy 3-4 trucks by the time I hit the freeway and was still pullin on him all the way to 120+..... damn gm speedos.
That was with an EFI tune thats supposed to...
Mine has an AFE box, but the intake pipe is a stock LLY unit. Had to cut a couple inches off it to adapt the lbz piece to it. It has a 4" rubber coupling in the pic... thats been changed to a 4" silicone boot since. Not hard to do, and I pulled the pcv tubes out and hung them over the side of...
McRat's found 175..... :D
Ive been 144 in stock motor duramax before. LMM with a tune, trans, and the usual goodies. Stock motor though. Probably only had another 5mph left as it was accelerating very slowly past 135.
My 03 lb7 got to 135 but that was it. Screaming at that speed...
