My account still works! A hello from several years ago (and shout-out to Leroy in particular!). The rig in my signature you might remember was bartered for some major perimeter fence work at my property back in 2017, after not using the rig much or being able to justify it versus an offer I...
I just completed the Optimizer 6500 Navistar rebuild process from a military take-out. I loved the idea of the P400 but once I realized lightly-used Optimizers were within much greater reach financially - initially - I went that route. Six months later from that decision, let's cut to the chase...
Disclaimer: I work for a natural gas company. Yes, things are really sucking right now but hopefully turning a corner in the next year (but cheers to cheap bills at home).
I love the idea of having a refueling station at my ranch someday. While that equipment in of itself is a whole other...
Awesome, didn't even know this area of TTS existed. Great seeing others enjoying mowing pasture like I do... except it's with a little JD I got off Craigslist with a 48" deck. It takes nearly a full day every 2 weeks to mow my property (4 acres, 3 is pasture, all flat, natural grassy/weedy)...
Hey guys, long time no chat. I think my last thread on here was late last year, lamenting that my truck sounded like it had thrown a rod, and replacing the crank pulley didn't help much. I pretty much went into hibernation for the winter to plan. Then I sold our house in the suburbs, moved my...
'Tis true. After more than a few months, the ATT is finally off of my workbench collecting dust and "holy crap, what is that going into?" remarks all year, and mounted on the TerraShuttle! I'm pretty happy.
There's much to go over, so I will refrain from writing a long story here and will...
If you may remember from my failed ATT install attempt, I did at least get my serp belt changed. Drives great. But in turning on the A/C (idle or at speed), it squeals like a stuck pig. I believe it's slipping. Is it normal to adjust the compressor after such a belt change, or should I just...
As an engineer with a slight OCD streak, I absolutely hate those rare days that come along when you realize you don't have the time, tools or desire to complete a planned project and you have to give up. Or that it was far more work than had been anticipated. Today is one of those days for me...
Yeah, it's not optimal. But I have a nice brush guard for light duty on the front of my 1993 K3500 with a good spot for a winch. The guard 'clips' onto the bottom of the stock GM bumper with two bolts, and over the top as well with two bolts. While I realize I could mount a big badass Warn onto...
Or what else is necessary? Has anyone done this before? I think there's a lot of attraction to some of the last 6.5s with the simpler mechanical injection setup. Being considered for a 1999 Suburban I'm looking at for my Dad.
I'm looking (casually, not seriously) at a 1995 H1. Does this 6.5 have mechanical or electronic fuel injection? From the SSDiesel site, it looks like electronic injection started for the 1996MY? Is that right?
I'm planning to relocate my spare tire (probably to a tow hitch receiver upright mount, still TBD) in order to free up space for fuel capacity. Has anyone hooked up one of the 40-gal. monsters from a Suburban to the stock sidesaddle fuel tank on the driver's side frame rail? Is there an...
I'm looking at the Kennedy kit, but it appears I may have a Dmax fan already from a previous owner. It's a black plastic 9-blade unit. I want to make sure it's optimized before the Texas summer gets here. Thoughts?
That's right, and it runs smooth with it out... though it's tripped the CEL on the dash. I actually care less about this than the CEL being on and hogging up its single notification method of something else needing to trigger it! Anyone experienced something similar?
Mine has 280k on the clock and I don't think it's ever been rebuilt, though the trans has. It runs great, but as I build it up to take my family into the backwoods for camping, I keep wondering about this. There's always the risk of course, but some expectations are better than rolling the dice...
Hey guys- first time 6.5 owner here and I'm loving the truck that I've had for 2 months now. It's a 1993 K3500 quad-cab, long-bed, SRW w/ 278k mi. Pic for clicks:
I just took a trip from Dallas up to Denver last weekend to pick up a camper, and seemingly blew the turbo as soon as I got up...
