    My son's 1968 Chevy

Yeah I was thinking that too. I need to flash the old original file back on the ecm before going any further. that was before I started cutting back on the fuel and see what that does.

    My son's 1968 Chevy

I was looking online on how to find what the rear axle ratio is, there isn't a tag on the diff cover but it is a 12 bolt. I know he won't see any difference on RPM's for highway since the 400 doesn't have an overdrive but if the axle ratio is decent, he won't need the OD. also thought about...

    My son's 1968 Chevy

Thanks everyone for all the help and advice. I ended up just using the lock nuts the machine shop provided although that one that I was worried about backing off is easier to turn than the others. I may just pein the nut at the threads to help lock it in better. Tomorrow I have to pull the...

    My son's 1968 Chevy

Well fellas, it's alive!!! and it sounds like a sewing machine. so quiet. I can hear the injectors over the engine, on top of it running so smooth that 90% of all the rattles are gone. we took it out for a road test and it's got more power now but I think it's running lean now. I had taken...

    My son's 1968 Chevy

Making some progress! after taking all of the lifters back out and using my vice and a small socket to bleed them, adjusting went smooth. They all were pumped up and once I had it a zero lash then went another 3/4 turn I saw the valve being pushed down. after bleeding them and going through...

Ds4 fitting for fuel pressure gauge

iirc this fitting requires a male 6an to #4 male boss fitting to thread into the larger IP nut that is a filter screen. Then on the end of your fuel inlet hose will need the female 6an to barb to connect it all together.

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

I will have to pull the pump I have apart and have a look at it. see if there are improvements to be made! I have seen other videos explaining checking it for wear and when it's fubar and safe to run. this will be a fun endeavor!

This would also verify checking if the lifters aren't stuck too. I was reading on another forum about a guy asking the same thing. he got a lot of flak for it, but in the end he tried compressing them and ended up finding two that were stuck. taking them apart and found the plungers froze up...

    My son's 1968 Chevy

Posting this for reference on bleeding the lifters. I should be able to take one of the old push rods and place the lifter flat side down on my drill press and verify they are blead down or actually bleed them.

    My son's 1968 Chevy

I had joined on a C10 forum recently and mentioned that I was having trouble figuring out the valve lash on this engine. one of the guys mentioned to lookup Ken Ellison and how he sets hydraulic lifters on any engine. I did a search online and found this video almost straight away. it...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

looks good other than from what I can tell your cruising on a straight away and seeing you have to correct your steering frequently. are all the steering components good? it's something sometimes we don't think about because it becomes second nature and we get used to the vehicle. I had...

    Pole Barn Garage

I was gonna say sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission!! if the building was already plotted and okayed and permitted according to the drawings...... on the other side I wouldn't want to be the guy the city / county is upset at or out to get from all the hoopla. I've...

    My son's 1968 Chevy

I will have to double check. I believe it is, but all I am going off from is the distributor rotor and the timing mark on the crank pulley. both the intake and exhaust seem to be at the same height. I can try rotating the crank slowly and watch the push rod and rocker as it moves. will also...

    Pole Barn Garage

50 ft is a lot of property that can't be messed with!! I haven't heard of this. here in our area inside the city I thought it was a 4-6 ft boundary for buildings. our house there is barley enough room for me to walk between the side of the house and the fence which is on the property line...

    My son's 1968 Chevy

Ok, update: I attempted to follow those instructions putting the crank at TDC #1, then started with the first rocker. tightened until I could not feel any up-down movement, then tightened another 3/4 turn. Now i cannot rotate the push rod or move the rocker side to side at all as if it's too...

    My son's 1968 Chevy

Since I don't have a points distributor, uses HEI, I looked up the same for a newer engine and it stated the same thing. There is not a crank bolt on the snout, so I need to figure out a barring tool. I think I should be able to thread bolts into the three holes the puller would go in and...

    My son's 1968 Chevy

This is what my pc browser gave me (AI responce) for setting the valve lash on this engine. is this correct? For a 1968 GM 250 cid inline-six engine, the standard static valve lash adjustment procedure involves setting the zero lash (no vertical play in the pushrod) and then turning the...

    My son's 1968 Chevy

Well I made a little progress today on my son's truck. got the head installed and torqued down, then applied some assembly lube to the rockers and new push rods and got them in place. haven't tightened the nuts. I need to figure out what and how to set the valve lash. This engine has...

Possible Engine Build for my 93 Truck

I was searching online but can only find the stories about his hot vapor engine, nothing about the oil pump!
