I'm also concerned about the vibration that the ops has to endure from our engines. I'm going to remote mount it with a short section of hp ss hose with proper reusable fittings. This way if it goes bad down the road, it'll be easy to change without standing on my head.
Most info was in thread. I only messed up when I loosened OPS and then discovered it was adjustable and I didn't mark setting. Didn't understand what he said to mark in thread till after I loosened it...DOH. I went by his pictures to reinstall it and guess from his info if I set it right. Looks...
When I first installed it, it just cleared. I could hear it rub a little on tight turn. Readjusted top shroud a little, but didn't help. I just took off top half and trimmed those two ribs about 1/16 to 1/8 inch. I used a Dremel with a sanding drum. Took a bout a minute. Then scraped the...
Thanks for the tutorial on the IP and emails. I was able to take pump apart, replace shaft seals and sucessfully reassemble.A lot different than old 5.7 and 6.2 pumps Truck is running great now.
NAPA and other parts stores carry the terminals; and some of the connector bodies. You'll need to know and be able to identify the particular terminals you need. There are a lot of different ones. You'll also need the correct tool to remove the particular terminals. Personally, I'd drop the tank...
Got truck back together with high volume pump; picked up 15 to 20 lbs. across the board. 35 to 40 hot idle and 55 to 60 hot cruise. Now for the chip, fuel pump, and turbo master install.:agreed:
bought my stainless from SSDiesel and am happy with it. I made mu own hangers from steel rod, used a couple of theirs, and attached most of it with band clamps. I welded the rods to the exhaust with a reinforcement half section of exhaust pipe to minimize future stress cracks. Extra work, but I...
I looked up the Walbro you guys talk about, At least I think it is the model. The picture of it showed a round screen about 2 inches? in diameter and having an option of using a coarser or finer screen version. Maybe I was looking at a different version pump. Got the model number from one of the...
Yes, good point about heat soak, but also unit is off so not making any internal heat. Maybe it's the running heat that hurts them. Maybe they are just a piece of s### and a way for Stanadyne to hose us. I remember all those glow plug controllers on GM cars only lasting a couple of years before...
Good info in all those posts doc. Thanks for that. One of the things I was going for was to make it easy to change when it goes bad. I was looking at that FSD heat sink and it looks as if there is room to add a second one to it for a quick change over if the other one quits. The FSD seems to be...
I wasn't inferring to be "PROUD" of my findings. I just want to be honest and up front with my findings good or bad. Time will tell whether it works better or worse than anywhere else. Most on here experiment with one thing or another. Some things work, some don't. At least it will be easy to...
I did mine behind glove box. (94). However, I did check wire color at trans plug as my colors didn't seem right. Used a switch with center off to disconnect lockup if desired for some reason. I installed switch into one of the blank switch spots on right side of dash panel.
checked temp of heat sink at base of fins with ir gun; max 146degrees. After 20 mile drive with ac on and idling for 10 minutes after drive with hood closed. Little fan mounted real nice (same size) over top of heat sink. Mounted on rear corner behind washer reservoir about 4 inches off fender...
I ordered a high volume pump yesterday from Zone. 63.00 for Mellings. I'd prefer higher pressure, even with the extra hp draw. The stock pump is same as non turbo and 6.2's. Turbo feed already draws off a little more supply than older engines. I have 40 cold idle, 40 running and about 15ish idle...
Find a small repair shop that works on all brands; Those foreign cars use a lot of that gasket size and shape. Most any decent repair shop has left over gasket sets with those little gaskets in it. That's where I got mine.
