Picked up a great gearbox which needs the splined out put shaft cleaning, can the end case be removed with out a complete strip down? (I'm promised the box is 100% good, & if the pan is very clean I don't won't to strip it down)

Is the more than one option on Transgo kits for the 4l80e?. With a Transgo shifter kit, what shifter do you use? my car has a rachet shifter that controls a TH400. Other than fitting the Transgo kit, what else do you do, what about the electrical socket on the side? thanks

The Buick has the running gear from a 70's Skylark, 455, Th400 & the matching axle about 3:1 ratio. I've the option of a TH700r4 od box from a gas engine, that might be a better bet, with a low stall converter & change/ mod the valve?

So a gas converter even withthe correct stall won't work?

I've asked on a uk hot rod site for a low stall torque converter, some has stated that one from a gas engine would not be up to the job!. I find this hard to believe, the 6.2 is stock, no towing, what do you think?

The price of Chevy/Ford stuff is a lot more over here in the UK,( & harder to find) so with that in mind, I have a Ford AOD box in my stash of parts.I would this be ok, on a non turbo 6.2?

Pulled a couple of bearing caps off today, the motor is in very good condition. I was going to re-ring & shelll it, but I'm sure its fine, ( the oil filter has a label stating 78,000 miles) looks like thats all its done. Should I use it as is, if not going turbo?, or is it worth doing + arp...
