So i pulled apart my DB2831-5079 for a gasket/seal refresh and put it back together and it ran great...until i noticed the bad leak coming from the weephole. Replaced the driveshaft seals with the perfect old ones. When trying to put the hydraulic head back in a second time, nothing was working...
Turned out i had some corrosion in the bore for the pump driveshaft and it ate up my seals. I took everything back out of the pump housing and cleaned up the bore with a soft scotch brite pad (Made sure that no fuzzies were left behind) and cleaned it out with brake cleaner, then soaked it in a...
Installed my "new" to me, DB2831-5079 and it turns out that there is fuel leaking from the weep hole on the drivers side, near the mounting flange. So is this a sign of my IP being absolutely fvcked?
I've got no issue with tearing it apart if i need too. I did leave that part of my refresh...
You won't see fuel coming out of the injector lines, i believe the lines fill when they are sealed and pressurizes against the injector nozzle and then sprays. Even while running you won't see much come out of a cracked injector line. I had a loose line when i first got the truck running after 5...
I had to add in a lift pump because my original was mechanical. Not like the new body style trucks (88-98). Mine is running off the ignition which i know is not the best way, but i do have it hooked up to a relay :D
I bought a DB2831-5079 pump, which moves more fuel and has the potential for more power than the DB2829 pumps that came with our older trucks. The DB2831 pumps were built for the 6.5TD and the 4911 pump (DB2831-4911) is the most sought after. I bought a cheap used one, bought a gasket/seal...
I'm in the process of installing a "new" HMMWV injection pump, 6.5TD pass.valve cover and the f-code upper and lower intake manifold from the 6.5TD and then fabbing up a simple intake to work with that right now. Thanks for the link though!
The next thing is turbo after that! i got it all here...
Sorry to hear about the issues, but i can wait. The one i have works for now :D Plus, a little time will make it easier to explain to the GF why i'm replacing a perfectly functional pump for another one LOL
I'm sure when i place the order, i'll probably pick up another item or 2 from your...
Looking to use this for my 6.2 (turbo not installed yet, but soon) and was wondering if you ship to Canada? If you do, what service do you use?
I'd like a shipping quote (a0p 1c0). Thanks!
I thought all DB2 lines were the same and the DS4 lines were bigger. I thought the issue with the bigger lines was the angle of the injectors in the newer heads would cause some issues with older setups.
It's probably nothing more than a clear grease, you can achieve the same thing by smearing bearing/chassis grease on parts, but it will be dirty looking obviously but it will protect it.
You could probably just go for a clear/transparent grease if you want to retain that bare metal look.
I wouldn't trust it on old vinyl, like in the 73-87 trucks, but the newer truck dashes, which were hard plastic won't be affected adversely from it. I use to put it on my 98 K1500 back before i knew any better and my dash is still okay. It's a bit dried out looking, but it's actually better due...
