Ok guys, I was checking things out today and I opened up the coolant res an noticed the coolant was brownish black? I checked the oil level and it wasn't low. It doesn't smell like oil. Is it just rust moving around in the system? It's got me a little uptight now.

The best way I've found to run aluminum rods it to smutt the aluminum with acetylene, and once it turns SUPER black it doesn't look as bad

Ok WarWagon thanks! I was thinking that you had to take the bolts off to be able to pull the water pump off. I was thinking it was going to be a PITA, this makes it less daunting.

Whats the easiest way to get to the bolts? And I'm assuming that the black RTV only goes where the gasket doesn't cover? I've never changed out a pump on one of these, just gassers

I agree, it would have been hard for me to have painted the aluminum. I might have brushed it. But this is coming from someone who makes a weld, gets it x-rayed, and then coats it in dope :rolleyes5: Only 3-4 people ever see my work, I'd show it to the world if possible
