Yeah, top pin and connector socket are "blackened", second has blue corrosion, and third seems to have retracted back up into harness a bit. Good stuff...
So, it sounds like I need a PMDCABLE extension and a #7 resistor
Thanks for advice on resistor. I was also sold a #9 with my PMD and...
I had no idea that "joeyeraif" was edam on fleabay till after the fact
Jim warned me to keep on eye on it, but like he said, it was after the purchase
So, just spreading the word, sound advice, "you get what you pay for"
I'm just happy it didn't kill my PMD
I'll try Heath or PMDCABLE...
Warning: eDAM World, aka King Tires, aka Joeyeraif, aka P Pelt sell inferrior non-watertight PMD extension cables on Ebay.
Cable seemed okay at first, but over time it gets pulled to the side the locking tab is on and lets moisture in. Corrosion and bad connections start to happen, feels like...
Re throttle, is there anything to "service" on it? It did say "service throttle". Clean, lube?
Cleaned all 7 battery connections. Grounds looked good (all new and clean at engine swap) Voltage now reads 14+, where previously it would read right at 14 and then drop a bit.
Double checked...
I can hear it rattle when I turn on the key. It's supposedly a HD LP, only a couple years old.
I can give it a real test tomorrow, if you think it's appropriate
Had a crappy positive battery connection on driver side battery. Didn't catch it till it gave me a problem.
The old girl cut right out a couple times before I found and corrected the problem. Volts down, stall, coast, start right back up when volts came back up. Now all shiny and tight. Truck...
Looks better than mine!
I just "boxed in" my "hot air intake". Truck wasn't running as hard as it could when hot out. People advised losing my "hot air intake" but I couldn't find stock parts.
See attached pic. Don't laugh!
I had a piece of 3" angled pipe to extend air cleaner almost...
So I "boxed in" my hot air intake. See attached pic. Don't laugh!
I had a piece of 3" angled pipe to extend air cleaner almost into the fender opening. I then used some scrap to make a heat shield around my sparkly new :rolleyes5: air box (left over aluminum flashing). A slit piece of hose...
Truck does not overheat:nono: 97 cooling, clean rads, durabux fan kit. No air in coolant. No oil in coolant. No coolant in oil
Just loses it's torque/snot (especially in summer) after a few back to back HARD runs and/or pulling larger loads
With 5-6k out back, I betcha 2-3 hard pulls and...
Thanks for all your input!
I really don't believe the truck has "general cooling issues"
I am enclosing my air intake kit to keep hot air out of my intake and thinking of the ATT as my first choice:thumbsup:
Sound good?
Thanks again!
Rads are clean (did that at engine swap time)
Coolant temp seems just fine. It doesn't break 180 degrees empty (or even light towing). During summer with the boat behind me, she'll eventually climb to the point where the the Duramax fan kicks in, and immediately drops 25 degrees! So...
Only have money for 1
Truck runs AWESOME when cool, with TM, boost fooler etc. 14lbs max boost. Stock ECM, no optic bump but timed at ~1.5
BUT, towing during summer, power is good for only a couple hard pulls til everything heats up and loses power (and/or EGTs start climbing)
"Hanging...
Thanks for your help, as always.
Let me know how your custom turbo deal is progessing and I'll probably jump in.
Any thoughts on using a Pop Off Valve to limit boost on new turbo?
My reman is fresh and has brand new thicker casting heads, but I believe they used head bolts (not studs)...
I found it at "the auction site". Search for "180273186146"

I just got in a reman kit for my GM-8 (to hold me over til the Slim deal goes thru). Any links, pics or advice on doing a quicky rebuild?
Also, the dealer said he'de rebalance the rotating assembly at no charge if I pay shipping both ways. Is this needed?
Thanks for any tips.....
