I was looking to upgrade my 1994 K3500 DRW, found out you cant change to the linear on mine, maybe the wrong one in yours? Sounds like you're fixed now. Take care.
Another quick post, when you guys say I have one of the "ugly 1994's" are you suggesting that the pictured down pipe is from the factory? That is hard to believe the factory could be so sloppy, if this down pipe was intalled in Wisconsin by GM, I swear I will make the drive to thier...
Hey all, I haven't taken a look at the down pipe yet, and I do agree that changing the the crossover now is a good idea, but unfortunately the torque holding my wallet closed is substantial! The crossover I have is not mandrel bent, but had no leaks and is pretty solid. I do have a 4" turbo...
Forward Progress
Took down the drivetrain. New Bellhousing on order, $305. Got new motor mounts, new seals, in particular the rear main seal! New exaust coming. Just wanted to put the pictures in here so you all could see my progress into this as an non-professional mechanic. Ask any...
Well, not the good kind!
My truck is like a Cornucopia, the more you go in to fix, the more you find to fix. But is this really what I wish for? Anyways, I noticed while doing some investigative disassembly on the timing chain and sprockets for my rough idle/power reatarded timing condition...
I spent a year tracking down a idle/power rough condition, maybe the timing chain, or the woodruff key/ crank timing gear being damaged. Not sure if the damage I found on my rig was a normal 6.5 condition, or the product of an aftermarket clutch and flywheel.
FOUND IT!
Think I finally found it.
Been fooling around with timing for months now, just knowing deep down that was the issue. Found this little gem this evening, after digging deeper to see if the timing chain seemed stretched. It ended of having about an inch of deflection, which is bad I...
Thought It Was Timing
Though maybe the IP gears were a tooth off, did some investigative disassembly and found this. Never wanted so see something wrong so bad as this, but no luck, mystery problem continues on.
Next I am going to check timing chain slack and alignment. Will post more...
I just replaced my circuit board with one from the dealer, 67 bucks and some change. They said if you by a new motor, the circuit board that the new motor comes with won't have delay built into it and you would have to get the circuit board anyways.
That T @ the IAT sensor is a real good idea dtreid. I have heard some people say the best modification you could ever do is one that can be removed without leaving evidence. Smart on that one, I believe I will follow suite on this one.
Hey Guys,
Found this wrench at Lowes for about 40 bucks in Alaska. Probally 5 bucks down there in the lower 48. Last time,(the first time) I timed my truck, I had a real hard time with the bottom passenger IP nut. This little wrench makes both the bottom IP bolts about a 30 second job...
My truck was set up like that as well, grounded on that coolant plate. I moved mine to the intake stud/bolt just ahead of it. I saw some pics of where the grounds were supposed to be, thats why I moved it there. Pic is hard to interpret, up to you I guess.
LIFT PUMP
Well I did some looking around, some obvious issues with this lift pump. Going to R2 soon. When you all put in a relay, you just run a hot line back to the pump, mount the relay there, and ground it to the frame there? Let me know how you guys do it. I will look into the Walbro...
Seat Interchangablity
I went through all of this looking to expand my total seating when my family came up here this summer. I never tried, but the junk yard up here said that the bolts are different for all the bodies and that the seat-belts wouldn't line up. My crew cab has buckets, I was...
SSDiesel PMD Cooler Location
GM Guy,
I wondering what makes you think that location is a NoGo for the PMD? They seem to swear up and down to put it there. I take it you have experienced something that makes that spot trouble-prone?

Help!
I am new to the forum, and so far am very impressed. I wanted to run some troubles I am having with our truck by you all. I have been chasing sparks around for almost a year, and am not having much luck as well as running out of ideas.

Starting, Glows...
