    Service Throttle Soon and codes....

Lately truck seems to pulsate in RPM's without me changing the accelerator peddle. Just enough to notice it. I though maybe fuel filter needs serviced, but I think it only has 5000 miles or so on it. Then I thought PMD acting up. Then I checked codes. 23 (accelerator Pedal Position 1...

Blizzard Snow PLows any good ?

I see you've got little response on the plow. I have no experience with Blizzard Plows, but I can give you something to think about. If the unit is complete for your truck including the truck mount, wiring, blade, lights and controller for $1400 you can't go wrong if you have any need for...

Blizzard Snow PLows any good ?

Everyone will have an opinion, but here's a place to get perhaps a more experienced answer. http://www.plowsite.com/forumdisplay.php?f=49

    Hows the plowing going?

BigBlue, That Western mechanical actuated system is excellent. The disadvantage is the truck has the headlights and mount in front of it all the time. The cable system is not difficult to set up. It's Real simple. There are only two cables. They'll last for years and when they need...

    Value of Block

The pistons, crank and pan are still together. Usable? I don't know for sure. I'm not taking it apart to find out.

    Value of Block

I've got a 6.5 engine in my barn taking too much space. It's a 929 block, I'm pretty sure, cause the number is 12552929. A guy heard I had it and wants to buy it. The heads were cracked from overheating, short block is there. Give me an idea of its value. Thanks.

    1996 6.5 troubles

When I got my truck 11 months ago I knew very little about Chev diesels. You guys had me fill out a diagnostic profile, then began guiding me through a process of isolating the problem. Where's that questionnaire? OPoster needs to start there. He'll then begin to understand where items are...

    PMD Resistor Removal?

"Necessity is the mother of invention". I needed a resistor. It was stuck in the PMD. The PMD was bad (I knew this because it would not start another truck). I didn't want to ruin the resistor (by breaking it while trying to fish it out) and then have to wait to receive one in the mail, or...

    PMD Resistor Removal?

I take a heavy pair of side cutters and start removing plastic. Quickly it's exposed. The remainder is trash anyways.

Lift pump PSI numbers, are they on par?

When you get the gauge to the windshield insert it into a couple of inches of the foam you wrap around pipes. Now worry about vibration to the gauge.

Going to buy a new alternator tomorrow...?

If you scroll down towards the bottom is does mention some additional mounting hardware required for some models.

    Why Why Why

When I bought my truck it had fuel problems. That's why the seller finally gave up. I removed the FFM (fuel filter manager). Two bolts and 3 hoses. Inspect and clean out the inside. Then hooked up a pressure gauge with a hose barb, turned on to build pressure. Let it set over night. Same...

How many bolts hold on the starter?

If you have your inner fender off you have easy access to the ground from the firewall to the frame and the frame to the engine. Clean them with a wire brush at both ends. If it were me I'd replace the positive wire from the starter to the battery. Mine looked fine, but by some quirk I...

    The Right Dozer

Sounds like you just want some equipment to play with. You mentioned being concerned about buying something and then having trouble with it. When spending the funds you're mentioning you better have someone with you who can verify the wear on all the mechanical parts. And yes, if it's...

    Too Much Oil

I changed oil and filter, and added 8 quarts. The truck is a '95, but has a newer engine in it. I only know this because it has a tap for the oil sending unit under the manifold also. I am just wondering if the engine will start puking oil if I don't remove a quart. I'm inclined to just...

Where is the easiest connection to get key switch power

Turbine Doc, Thanks, the wiring harness for the plow has the relays built in. I just need to tie into keyed power. I'll get a fuse tap and find power in the box by the parking brake release. Surely I'll get this done before I need it!!

Where is the easiest connection to get key switch power

I have a '95 and am wiring a Hiniker snow plow, and need power only when the switch is on. Where is the best place to get this? Thanks.

    bosch glow plugs

I don't know what prices you're looking at, but Rockauto sells 8 for about $53 at your door.

    Checking lift pump

If you "convinced" it to work with a 1" socket you've probably knocked off the top electrical connection. It's not a problem with the old one, but the new one requires it to function!!

    Checking lift pump

O'Reilly's has the deep OPS socket for about $13.
