    3" downpipe,where in Can??

Bison, I ordered from SSD. Pipe turned into a $170 US delivery to my door. Been educated since by the good folks here. Whatever you buy, do not use UPS to ship across the border. They will tack on obscene "handling" charges. As far as I know, no one does a true 4" DP for the 6.5 I think this...

Ether; use it or not, some say yea, some say nay.

Matt, all good points. So, for those of us who use ether, it is probably vital, that we turn the key to on, and let the glow plugs cycle, and then cool for 15-20 seconds after the cycle. Might be an idea. I can't stress enough about using two people to start it. The engine needs to...

Ether; use it or not, some say yea, some say nay.

Wow, got back and this thread had really opened up, lol. Fireman, this is the procedure I use every time. I have used ether on my truck, and still used just glows later on, and it started. My buddy with his 6.2 has done the same. I think this would say that ether will not wipe out your...

    Someone asked me today........

Hmmm, I thought they were going to be bigger, lol. But you got me beat hands down. I think I need a dually before I go to that many lights. That would look awesome coming down the road at night.

Probably is pretty good for maintaining tailgate fluid, eh? Brooklyn, sorry, didn't mean to snap. Everytime a "young grasshopper" has been referenced that I have seen before, it has been by someone who "knew it all". Apparently I haven't seen all the usages for that term. Point is though...

Ether; use it or not, some say yea, some say nay.

No. This truck had this problem right from when the GP's, Injectors, and IP were all replaced with new parts. Ether wasn't used before or after. It was only recently that I used the ether on this truck to start it. I agree, it is an open forum. Therefore, if someone was to ask, I would say...

OK, thanks for help guys. What do you people not get when I say, I have used it many times, without damage, I know many other guys, including veteran diesel mechanics, who have used it, and I feel that it can be used safely to start? My point is, I have used it over the years, and have yet to...

Maybe just keep a lid on it here. If you guys have had bad experiences with it, sorry to hear, and it's good that you let people know. As I stated, I am sharing MY experiences with starter fluid. You won't addict the engine to it, and if you are careful, I feel you can safely start your...

Borg Warner T-Case Leaks when parked nose down

Matt, it sounds somewhat like the output shaft on my 95's t-case. The thing started leaking like a sieve when I put oil in. I pulled the plate off my rebuilt transfer case, and it wasn't to bad. Impact that nut off, and then if you can, use a pulled to pull that yoke/plate off. Mine was very...

Not to pick a fight here, but. I have used ether on my truck before. Instruction on the can OK it for diesel use. My truck typically will start without it. Doesn't that negate the sentence that once used, it won't start without it? I too worked at a truck shop, and many of the veteran...

    Ricers/Cummins Fun

Lol, yea, I kinda think that the GT-R driver didn't know how to drive. He should have been able to lose me without to much worry. ):h Some of the most fun was in the Firebird when I had it. The body was a little rough, and most of the ricer boy would laugh at it, until I mashed em...

    Someone asked me today........

How many lights is he at? I have two LED's in the bumper holes, two mounted beside the grab handles on the cab pillars, five on the roof, eight lining the box sides, and four more across the rear bumper. So that's.... 21 marker lights. ):h

    IP Timing?

Hmmm. I have used starting fluid before on diesels, and the GP's have worked afterwards. As long as you are cranking the engine over, and don't stop until it fires up, it should be fine. I haven't checked them yet, as they were brand new from good ol' SSD. The light comes on for full cycles...

    Ricers/Cummins Fun

This section seems a bit quiet. :wtf: lol Seeing as how it's the weekend, and we've finally got summer up here, everyone is out for some fun. Started it last night. One my way home, a two lane road that goes up a hill. I am planning on turning, when I see a pack of ricer boys...

    IP Timing?

So what do you guys think? It's actually the IP timing that's out? Like I said, the stealership said they performed the timing procedure. Just wondering if this could be something else.

    Idle speed

I should go and look at mine, but from memory, it's a fixed position spring. Just try to match as close as possible to stock spring. Do not go to the stealership. They will do nasty things to your wallet.

    IP Timing?

So, the 95 has a basically brand new pump from SSD. Only thing is, it never arrived with timing marks that Walt had apparently told my Dad it would have. The truck has needed to be plugged in for the morning, or it wouldn't start. Even in our recent hot weather, it still won't start on it's own...

    Transfer Case Leak

I've driven a lot of OBS chev 4X's, and this feels nothing like I have had before. I drove this truck before and used 4X, and it felt normal. I can go under and push the actual arm on the stud end and move it fairly easy. So I am thinking of pulling the t-case.

    40,000mile behind 6.5!!

I've put 104,000 kms (65,000 miles) on the 93 since I bought her two and a half years ago. Agree, it's the best vehicle I've owned yet.
