If you want the best version of it, look into: Water to air intercoolers.
Cost more performs more.
Colder air is more condensed oxygen. More oxygen lets you burn the fuel you have more efficient. And if you smash the fun pedal now even more fuel gets burned more efficiently so more...
Ok; that is some great numbers with those tires & that speed.
Yes an intercooler is a good thing. Take measurements what would fit then mosey through the junkyard…
There is always the rhino liner option- no clue on cost. But i have seen where guy put duct tape on the back side of holes a baseball can go through and it looks mint when done.
@bubbabilt
That sounds like a rig I would like to see if you get a chance.
As mentioned above yes the cam will work- same cam specs.
There’s a stack of advice about the engine while ya have it apart if interested.
Fun play on the ‘bilt btw.
Adding a turbo will need you to make an adjustment on the db2.
Here is how. 1/8 to 1/4 turn is enough for most. You can go more, if it’s too much you just end up with a puff of black smoke when you take off from a stopsign under hard acceleration.
Hopefully bumped the knob and spun the dimmer down? Other than that I am thinking headlight switch? There is a separate wire from it to the dash lights so maybe it lost connection in your Hiway breakdance move?

So you get the one for 8 cylinder. It’s 1 quart so you just add it when doing your next oil change and use it in place of a quart of oil.
Drive truck as normal. Do your next oil change with...
Ok. The 6.5 has a bad reputation for acceptable reasons. Knowing the issues that exist and making corrections is what makes it a good engine.
Get your popcorn ready:
Ive seen enough military take outs that died within 20,000 miles that I have a hard time not suggesting pulling the engine...
Yuppers to above- especially the speed. It’s really massive (says the guy who is floored till 10 over on the interstate).
This is also a key in longer engine life.
Have you added the “engine restore” yet? A couple treatments tends to help that smoke/ blowby. It was actually 3rd party...
@dbrannon79
Doug, in my experience, once a guy knows his way around a these trucks a bit - his instincts as to what the noise is becomes correct 95% of the time.
Lifter tick in these can be a lifter loosing its prime, or a rocker button that has left the chat. But when it’s a rocker button...
The clear line replace the rubber one completely. You will leave it permanently. If you use the clear pvc from hardware stores it will last 3-5 years. Some people add new screw style hose clamps, some dont, I do.
The new lift pumps- the AC Delco EP158 is the best of them. But I have seen...
Not uncommon. My guess is because the scanner sees the cam sensor bleed into the signal in the ecm- cam sensor being in the ds4 of course. Not like GM did some tom foolery there…haha
There is a Hummer mechanic- same engine- he MIGHT work on it for you.
Tor is his name, has a good reputation for quality but some Hummer mechanics only do Hummer, just like some pickup mechanics wont work on Hummers or RVs.
He is in South Jersey
