    4l60 swap to a 4l80?

Yeah, same opinion. Unless you are going to replace the engine with something mega powerful- replace the 4l60 with another one. B&M, summit, and a million other places sell them built to withstand more load than you can produce. Towing that load down the highway with a th400 that is only 1:1...

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

No orings. No pipe tape or dope. Clean threads and snug it up. That is a flare fitting. It seals by simple compressive force.

    4l60 swap to a 4l80?

Wait… so this isn’t some kind of torque monster build thats gonna happen? I thought with the heavier duty axles going in that the trans was getting the big upgrade for power that is next or already on an engine stand like an 8.1 Please explain your plans for the finished truck, and how you are...

    4l60 swap to a 4l80?

Yes but it will require more modifications than just swapping them. The transmission mount will be relocated as will the transfer case swapped or modified by changing the input shaft from 27 to a 32 tooth. This also leads to drive shaft modifications. I remember you shorten the rear shaft...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Then I wasn’t clear. Stainless steel is harder than the mild steel the hinge is made of. Stainless steel rubbing on stainless steel will require an outside lubricant or they will seize together eventually and the bushing will then start to spin in the mild steel hinge. It isn’t that the...

    Electronical Fuel Pressure Gauge

The snubber is what smooths out the gauge. But usually the bigger pumps that run non stop have a recirculating hose and that calms the pulse.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Idk about stainless bushings.. Bronze normally use because they are a self lubricant. Also they are softer metal on purpose so they wear out instead of the hole they go into. The steel hole only gets messed up when the bronze gets worn too far. The stainless will only cause all wear to be on...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Keeping door latched the entire time with window rolled down, use door frame to force up and down, in and out to feel for movement that might be creating thee sound. Biggest trick in stopping a sound is a positive id to what it is.

Delrin is the white plastic used in things like door strikers, motorcycle skid pads, Heavy equipment metal to metal where grease isn’t used (like the extension on a boom lift or crane). The black plastic junk they switched to is a cost savings move.

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

Yes- the converter slides out easy and is annoying to get in half the time.

Rings and bearings while I have the engine out?

It sounds like the torque converter isn’t all the way back on the shaft. You have to spin it while jiggling up and down slightly while pushing it in. 3 ledges will be felt during install, it sounds like yours is in only 2. Having done hundreds there is still the occasional one that will take...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

It’s not regular wire. It is fuseable link. If you can shorten it up & crimp on a new end, do that. Otherwise you’ll be spending more money than was in the game plan. Cable ties to hold them out of the way incase they do pop off, and the heat sheilds are the way to go.

    SAE30R7 fuel hose

That last one was originated by a company and called Tygon. Do searches here and you’ll see many of us tried it over the years. Takes about 70,000 miles but it will fail. I never tried the sae30r7 on the 1/8” stuff. I would think it needs clamps, but usually spring clamps don’t work for the...

    SAE30R7 fuel hose

It is federally mandated that all on road fuels in the continental US have oxygenated fuel. The way the extra oxygen is in there is from either ethanol or methanol. Most states, not all, required the labeling of “oxygenated fuel” by percentage- usually 5% or 10%. Sae7 works but will fail in...

    Thinks for letting me join

Welcome. It’s very helpful to fill out your signature line with the year, make, model, and any modifications you have done. Mine isn’t the best example, look at several posts to see how people do it.

hey everyone my name is is marc first time here

Welcome. No idea on the specs for the tc. I can’t remember them being the initial cause of failures, usually they were the victim of something else coming apart- but it is possible. Often fine debris doesn’t get cleaned from the transmission cooler and the debris ruins the new transmission...

hi everyone or anyone who can help,my name is Ronnie

Ok, I should have said- there is a torque converter flushing machine. Some transmission rebuild shops have them, and are usually trustworthy of doing it right. But it’s a gamble because you pay the labor and cost of fluid, then if it didn’t flush clean enough they will then recommend buying...

hi everyone or anyone who can help,my name is Ronnie

Not trying to be rough but helpful… Have you ever watched someone plug in a welder extension cord then start climbing out on the diving board to the swimming pool? I mean, besides the above post? Dude- you are in a world of hurt. Cleaning out a torque converter doesn’t happen. You can cut...
