96 Suburban 6.5 Wiring Mystery for Lift Pump

I need to unplug the harness to the OPS and see if that turns the Walbro off. First I will need to unbolt the Fuel Minder to get my hand in there to unhook the OPS. I remember raising the Fuel Minder up for some reason from where it was originally. It may have been the OPS change when I did the...

96 Suburban 6.5 Wiring Mystery for Lift Pump

Hello all, The adventures never end on this old girl!! What I have is a 1996 Suburban with the 6.5 running a Walbro FRB-5 lift pump replacing the factory frame POS that was a problem from day one. I forget where/who I purchased the upgraded OPS and Lift Pump wiring harness when I installed the...

Hi All, Working on getting the pictures from my phone to the site..... Stay tuned. I’m much better with wrenches than I-phones!😬

Front frame section rust repair ten

Hi All, Just as I crest the road of getting all mechanical issues aligned with the moon and the stars....I am wrenched back to the reality that the northeast weather is going to extract this vehicle from my worn out hands and return it to the ground it came from. The rust is killing it slowly...

    Master Cylinder Mystery

True to form....the 96 Suburban 6.5 throws another curve ball at us. Today I noticed the brake pedal seemed lower than normal. Surprising since I just installed two new front calipers and stainless steel braided front lines. Bleed the system... everything seemed fine. Until today. I popped the...

Still wrenching on "The Adventure" added new flexible rear ac lines and rear evaporator after conceding the fight with local brined road accelerating corrosion and turning the small repair in to a entire AC system rebuild! New "choice" .....rusty vehicles or....clear.... ice and snow free roads? ;-)

Uggh..another 6.5 Adventure now with AC

No luck so far with the condenser lines! I drilled a small 1/8" hole with a #3 centering drill just through the female nuts to allow penetrant to seep into threads from the condenser fittings. So far no luck moving those fittings. I am AMAZED at how tight they are as I gave the wrenches...

Uggh..another 6.5 Adventure now with AC

Hi Folks, After 20 years the 96 Suburban condenser is leaking with much thanks to our local roads department for supplying large amounts of salty brine to make their snow removal efforts so much easier!! So here we go...I was forewarned that the ac connections to the condenser would be "welded"...

PAG 46 Oil Charge-96 K2500 Suburban 6.5 with Rear Air

So I m changing the compressor in this repair along with the condenser and Receiver Dryer. You would think the aftermarket at Delphi would use PAG 46 since GM has evolved to this. I agree about not wanting to "mix" oil in the system. After all....why compound the problems GM "Engineered" into...

PAG 46 Oil Charge-96 K2500 Suburban 6.5 with Rear Air

Hi Ferm, Of course the adventures never end with these vehicles. Should we bill GM for all of the "engineering" and "modifications" we all have done to keep their trucks going beyond a factory warranty period? Yikes! I digress...! I thought the orifice tube was in the condenser because I asked...

PAG 46 Oil Charge-96 K2500 Suburban 6.5 with Rear Air

Thank you for the input War Wagon. I will be guided more once I disassemble the condenser and pull the orifice tube to see what goodies I will find. At this point I do not have a catastrophic compressor failure as far as I know and may well have averted bigger problems. I figured while I was...

PAG 46 Oil Charge-96 K2500 Suburban 6.5 with Rear Air

Hi Folks, Just about to replace the AC compressor and condenser with new components after a leak check shows some issues that translated into lower cooling efficiency. Thankfully there does not appear to be a catastrophic compressor failure. I will be flushing the lines and inspecting for debris...

Brake upgrades using factory parts for GMT-400(88-00 OBS), and 94-99 DODGE 2500/3500

Ok Great, So if i replace my front calipers with the 3500 version will they just bolt right on to my spindles without any modifications to the mounting? As well, will I need to use the 3500 brake lines (which need replacing anyway). I am figuring that while I am at it....replace the calipers...

Brake upgrades using factory parts for GMT-400(88-00 OBS), and 94-99 DODGE 2500/3500

Hi Folks, If you install the front rotors and calipers for a 3500 4wd on a k2500 suburban to follow the upgrade will the original suburban 8 lug steel wheels fit without the rotors rubbing? As well I run Alcoa aluminum rims in the summer....will there be a clearance issue with these as well?
