I had a somewhat similar issue with the truck starting fine cold , but after hot would crank slow without firing. If you let it sit for a while ( long enough for the flatbed to get there) it fired right up. After chasing the problem for while, turned out to be one weak cell in one battery that...
Easiest way I found my broken crank was to remove the flex plate cover, put a socket on the balancer bolt with a breaker bar and rock it back and forth.
My balancer moved about an eighth of a turn while the flex plate stayed still.
I think there is supposed to be a solid piece of seel...
So you buy a beauty like that, show it off to all your friends and family and then it grenades. Then you have to explain to your other half that the big paperweight in the driveway needs a new engine.........not cool......

I installed a new AMG/GEP Optimizer long block, factory fresh from Franklin Ohio. Unless something has changed, the only authorized vendors for this engine are W.W. Williams and Penninsular Diesel. The engine was $5,750.00 plus $200.00 shipping. There were many threads on the other site about...
Thanks guys!
Where else can you ask a question, and within 24 hrs develop scientific theory, do R&D, including real time data from actual test runs:D
I will run it to see if continues to throw a code and if it does, I will put another $2.99 pot on the baro until I get the scratch for a GL4.
Thanks Guys for the support, the money was spent with tears in my eyes, but I read and learned from the people here.
Just getting tired of trying to "fool " this thing:
Switch to fool it about starting temperature
POT to fool boost pressure
Now maybe a POT to fool the baro
Just...
Do you just measure the resistance across the pot when running? or just back it off until code and then turn it up a bit?
Where did you wire it into the baro? I think this may be my problem because the code usually does not trip under boost, it seems more atmospheric ( if that is possible)...
I have the turbomaster set at 10 psi at WOT and for some reason it started throwing 78 code recently, so I installed the 10k boost fooler as outlined in the stickys. My question is what setting am I looking for? Is there any harm in turning it to max if I have the boost known to be set at 10...
Looks like it might make a good truck if you have a spare engine
