No, just the rest of the '97 is very nice and straight. I am very gun shy of the 6.5 with all I have read and experienced about it. What would be good is a very reliable/cheap 4x4 on the farm; power is not an issue.
Probably I would want to go with the automatic transmission already in the...
What gas engine can I use in place of the 6.5 diesel in '97 cheyenne?
I burned up my 6.5 (oil analysis shows high Fe, overheated, knocking) turbo charged diesel in my k2500 (automatic transmission).
I would like to put in a 4.3 L all cast iron gas engine in it's place. I plan to...

I would like to put in a 4.3 L all cast iron gas engine in it's place. I plan to make a 4 wheel drive farm only vehicle out of this thing.
I found an old '93...
I get some hots while probing, so ground on the tester is good.
I have been trying to find an electrical diagram to see where I can tap the cold side wire away from the brake switch. I found for a gas '98 k2500 and see it has four wires from the brake switch (I believe mine to be the same)...
Probe as I might on each pin, nothing lights up with the brake applied. I am hoping to find an electrical diagram to try to figure out which wire to tap into. I just might be able to unplug the harness at the switch, but I still need to poke for the cold side wire in a very difficult spot...
Having a heck of a time trying to get the blue wire hooked up because I can't seem to
get to the cold side of the brake light switch. Does the harness to the switch unclip, or does the
entire switch need to come out? Can't even get my hands in there.
Thanks for any ideas.
It has a 6.5 with and automatic. I rarely need 4x4, but need to stop the engine inorder to shift in or out of the selection. It sounds as if gears are grinding, and needs a few seconds even after the engine has been turned off.
I disconnected the alternator cable (and even had it tested). I disconnected the starter. Disconnected the fuse compartment above the steering. Still there is this current draw.
Perhaps this specific current draw is a clue?
It is a '97 K25oo Cheyenne with 6.5 automatic.
Thanks for...
