Piston Slap??? '97 Vortec GMC 5.7L

Can you run an engine with the torque converter unbolted?? I read on some other sites that you can, but It would be nice if someone here has experience with that. Try to isolate engine from transmission. Just throwing out ideas. Best of luck!

Piston Slap??? '97 Vortec GMC 5.7L

My 98 C1500 with a 305 makes the same noise. I just figured it was wear since it has 378000 KM on it. I run 5w-40 T6 in it, also knocked with 10w-30 Amsoil. Mine gets louder when the truck gets put into gear so something in the rotating assemble is making the noise. Brake lines are easy to...

Remote mount batteries under the truck

I bought welding cable when I relocated my car battery to the trunk. Its pretty flexible and has decent abrasion resistance.

Yes and no. I have no issue making boost. I'm anxious to see how much pressure drop there will be and what the change in drivability will be. If it doesn't work out then, I'll just shelve it for another project. I will start a thread after this semester when my summer car is back on the road.

    94 C3500 350 NV4500 squealing

Pressure plate fingers may be damaged, causing unequal release? The spring retainer plate broke on my clutch disk once and a spring wedged between the disk and the pressure plate causing a squeal. Couldn't shift the trans tho since the clutch and pressure plate were forced together. DMF or SMF?

In/Out will be relocated to the side of the tanks, so that they're parallel with the core. Overall Volume( if intercoolers are compared this way) is 880 Cubic inches. The cooler from a 7.3 PSD is around 1000 cubic inches. Plumbing will pass through the core under the batteries. Upper intake will...

I just picked up a dura-lite CAC from my local semi-wrecker for $80 CAD. Will take some modification to make work. Core measures 22Wx12.5Tx3D. like Will L. said, measure fer what ya can fit, then go bug every wrecking yard. Might find a deal.

98 Chevy 6.5 what new turbo setup should I use

I just went from ATT to HX40Wii. I kept my ATT KOJO tune and my crossover and downpipe are wrapped. Loss of boost between shifts and having the power come on above 2000 were my main reasons for the swap. ATT pulls like hell from 2400 to 3500 and will even make a little boost at 1500. Its too...
